Two slots left—double jump and high jump!
Alright so, people have double jump and run at the very start, right?
Also what does "Eye" do?
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
The ghost eye lets you see and interact with the ghost objects (bank 12). Some of them are harmless, or even helpful, but most of them are enemies.
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
Yep. The actual order of areas is as follows:
Start with running.
In Mystery Zone 1, get high jump.
In Esperath's Areas of Agony, get climbing.
In Mystery Zone 2, get double jump.
In Friday's Frantic Forest, get the umbrella.
In Niku's Nightmare, get the detector.
In Kazztopia, get the eye.
In Healyopolis, get the red key.
In Bongo Bill's Burdensome Barn, get the blue key.
In Mothra's Murderous Maze, get the purple key.
In LaserBeing's Lightning Lounge, get the yellow key.
AND THEN YOU'VE VISITED EVERY AREA

Hey, how ambitious are you guys getting here? I've found a place where I can stop and be happy with what I've done, but I kinda want to go for broke on this.
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
Whatever makes for better comedy when Frocto tries to run this bugfucking gauntlet of human folly, is the we should all err on.
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
Speaking of which, what is a fuckbug? I've never actually watched those Let's Plays, so I'm in the dark here.
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
yeah, my fuckbug timings were sufficiently brutal that Friday told me to tone them down...

Bank 4 (Meanies) Obj 9.
It's coded to run back and forth whenever Juni is horizontally level with it. I used it in my final boss room, and while Frocto was slaving away for more than 30 minutes trying to win, someone (Smiler? Mothra?) started saying "watch out fer feckbuuug!" whenever Frocto would die to it.
It's a good enemy to use if you're a sadistic bitch like me, because it's completely fair and predictable, but moves very fast so punishes any mistake.
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
Ah, okay. Yeah, I'm a big fan of those guys myself.

What should we do to prevent conflicts for custom data like music files? I'm adding song 30 and maybe 31.
...but is it art?
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
In the first post:
So you probably don't have to worry about it.
If you'd like to use custom tilesets, ambient noise, music tracks, or backgrounds, go right ahead; I'll reconcile any conflicting resource names before importing your rooms.

Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
I'm using the 150-159 range for Ambiance and Music. I'm currently using 221-255 for Gradients, but that'll have to get shuffled around into unused gradient slots.

(also, for ease of copy/paste, I am using a buttload of the empty space above my zone)

Hey, I've got the Eye, and I'd like to discuss making it (and therefore parts of my area) totally optional.
If it's optional, then any areas that come after my area can add another layer of detail based on whether or not you choose to go on the Eye quest.
Given the world-bending nature of the Eye, any invisible stuff would essentially just be another mob type if everybody after Kazzland is stuck with the item. Just sayin'.

Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
btw "choosing to go on the Eye quest" does not necessarily mean "knowingly consenting to have the Eye" but that is a plot spoiler

Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
cool with me, the only Eye stuff I've put in is a slugfog or two anyway
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
I don't mind it, but my area takes away and gives back the eye, so the player might be stuck with it anyway.
Re: Exquisite Knorpse 4: Construction Phase
I'm not planning on using any ghosts.
