Street Fighter V tells the tale of the feared Thai dictator and criminal master mind, Mongkut "Vega" Bison's final attempt to ensure his immortality before he was stopped by the combined efforts of the World Warriors and the shadowy, but seemingly well meaning Illuminati organization that would go in to replace him as the principal antagonists of the series (timeline wise, not game release chronology wise, obviously)

Fortunately Bison has never looked cooler than in V.

Pontiff Sulyvahn: Here we have one of the only true monsters in all of Dark Souls lore, a man who mercilessly destroyed anyone and everyone who stood in his way to attain power, corrupted and enslaved warriors and dancers, fed a god to Aldritch, perverted The Church of the Way of White forever, and has infinite stamina. Probably that last one made people hate him more than the rest combined.

Arthas is a pale shadow of Kerrigan, a whiny fuckhead with daddy issues who gets used for the purposes of others his entire life until KT tells him "hey stop letting others use you and instead let me use you" but then KT's plan is to just chill out with his cat in a floating fortress so Arthas never accomplishes fucking anything.

Dutch is a nuanced, well written badass motherfucker. A man trapped outside his time, forced to fight because that is his nature. The last stone standing against the inevitable tide that is the corruption and sickness of modern government. Dutch was a monster, but in the end, he fought against a greater monster than himself.

Bob Page is the epitome of "shadowy villain". You never get to fight him directly. Even in the ending in which you directly kill him, all you do is press some buttons. Bob Page is every conspiracy theorists wet dream villain.

Seymour is a dumb head with a dumb head of wonky hair. He's like if Sephiroth had every cool thing taken away, replaced with political stupid, and the hair was more extreme.

I think that last one made me crack a tooth. Infinite energy was bullshit in Armored Core, and it's just as much bullshit in Dark Souls.

I don't think that's doing Arthas justice (OF THE GRAVE). Because sure, in Warcraft 3 he's a Kerrigan ripoff, though I did like the beats about him being essentially the hero of the realm for a new age, but corrupted and forced into a terrible crowd before he was even a shadow of Turalyon.

What really makes him stand out to me was Wrath of the Lich King. He shows up in every leveling zone, almost like a Saturday morning cartoon villain. You foil and stymy the Lich King's plans, only to have him... almost tolerate you. You crash through his power structure over the next 2 years, destroying it from the ground up all the way through blowing through Icecrown Citadel... and in your final confrontation he drops a bombshell. He was watching the adventurer trend in Azeroth very carefully from the beginning with intrigue. He set you up to clear out the dregs of his army while giving you power and training that would benefit him as he begins to turn the army the player characters deliver to his doorstep.
The only reason he doesn't rule over the corpse of Azeroth is the last ditch action of a paladin, representing all he could have been.

Kerrigan is a monster, but exactly the sort of monster her galaxy needed to save it in the end. Arthas is just a man that betrayed all he ever knew, loved, and honored for convenience and power... and the only reason he didn't win in the end was a stroke of luck and desperation. His effectiveness as a villain and strength of the writing behind it is unique to WoW's notable rogue's gallery.
