i just watched Hackers for the first time, for the sole reason that it beat Akira in this poll. that fact alone speaks volumes about me, i know. but i have to say that the experience left me angry. i was angry almost the entire time i watched the film. not just because of the poll, but because ... oh man, i can't even fit my thoughts into less than a thousand words. (i hope the rest of the poll doesn't affect me this way.)

the bottom line for now is that you guys are idiots.

This is a poll for the nerdiest movie, not the highest quality one. Hackers is high nerd camp. It's a hilarious--sometimes purposefully, mostly accidentally--period piece. And it ties into the time window near when some of us were first getting online. And the limo -> skateboard scene with the briefcase is one of the dumbest, most priceless moments in cinema.

Though I voted for Akira too.

But please, hit us with your hot, unabridged take on Hackers. I'm looking forward to it!

Honestly a little surprised to see T2 out this early; as much as I love Robocop and They Live I figured one of them would be swapped there. Not disappointed, but surprised!

This mix is an interesting collection of movies that I probably wouldn't ever see to the finals but like a lot in general.

But just in case people are thinking about making a wrong dumb choices again, let me remind you that the actress who played child-Mako in Pacific Rim couldn't pronounce Guillermo del Toro so he gave her permission to just call him "Totoro-san", and armed with that knowledge you can now make the right fucking choice.
