Doctor Who

Capaldi in costume.

I like it. Minimalism seems exactly the right direction to be going right now.

It looks nice, but I don't know. I was kind of hoping we'd get something nice. Something a bit flamboyant.

I'm not saying we need a Six out here but I would like something

I dunno, we kinda had flamboyance with Tennant's sand shoes and Smith's dickie-bow, plus the fez. If they went any further, they run the risk of tearing open old wounds that Colin Baker's costume caused. Sure, not likely to happen again, but no sense on taking too many risks with this new blank slate Doctor.

Since when are Chuck Taylors flamboyant? Don't you guys DARE post that picture of my shoes

As for "no sense taking risks", they've had three Doctors to play things safe and built a rather large fanbase that could probably stand the Doctor wearing goofy things on the regular again.

They've also just had four seasons of prancing Matt Smith doctor. Do you really want to see Capaldi grin and prance, Lottel?

We just had 3 seasons of Matt Smith sulking with 15-20% prancing.

Would I rather see Capaldi prance instead of play the lonesome hero who only smiles when someone is watching? You bet your curly ass hairs I would.

But wearing slightly sillier clothing doesn't have much to do with how he acts, anyway.

I feel like they might make Capaldi a lot more lighthearted than the other revival doctors have been so far. I mean, his story arc is going to be about "Hey my people aren't all dead I didn't kill them after all that's cool."

That was much funnier than what I expected from that link text. I figured it would all be people preemptively complaining about how much they hate Capaldi.

Gene Wilder was the best bizarro-world Doctor.
