Gravity Falls
Re: Gravity Falls
Not to mention the implication that Soos's grandpa is in Hell.
Re: Gravity Falls
Well that was the best Treehouse of Horror I've seen in years.
NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON AS A TALKING PIG. Rest of television? That's where the bar is now. The bar is at Neil DeGrasse Tyson as a talking pig.

"Or maybe it's pronounced 'Jiffany'? I was never too sure."
Re: Gravity Falls
Which part, the DVD or Alex Hirsch being inducted into the Illuminati via Twitter?

Re: Gravity Falls
Haha, neat!
Anyway, seems like Thad ain't gonna be too happy about the McGucket reveal. Although I do like how they made it clear he fucked himself up by his lonesome.
Also, didn't he have a hat pretty similar to Dipper's? I think that was him in Dead Ivan's flashback.

Re: Gravity Falls
Yeah, not crazy about it. Particularly how heavily it cribbed from Adventure Time.
But, y'know, so it goes.

Re: Gravity Falls
Much better Soos episode than the last Soos episode.
You know what I love about this show? The sheer, unironic kindness and compassion. It's so, so easy for a show based on these kinds of character dynamics to get mean and cynical and sarcastic -- there are plenty of examples. But here's a particularly good episode at making everybody be really nice to each other, at every turn -- from Wendy's "Ooh, you guys had no way of knowing this so it's not your fault" explanation in the beginning, to everything about Mabel and Dipper's handling of Soos's situation, to Soos's response at the end. Even when it comes time to deal with the antagonist, Mabel acknowledges that it's sort of their fault he wound up this way and asks for clemency for him.
Well, AFTER getting a little carried away and calling for his death.

Re: Gravity Falls
O. Right. That's Morty they do Globnar with.
Re: Gravity Falls
I just want to briefly note that the two cops were 100% on their game in this one
Re: Gravity Falls
Okay yeah, Weirdmageddon was fantastic. Besides all the awesome post-apocalyptic road warrior fun, they went all the way with Bill's hell on Earth, and it's a glorious nightmare.
I have a horrible feeling this is going to be the final end of Bill, but I've got faith Hirsch can pull off something equally cool for the next villain.
Also: Louis CK as Giant Head With Arm.

Re: Gravity Falls
Yeah, it was mindblowing; one of the best half-hours of TV I've ever seen. Great, great stuff.
You seem to be assuming there'll be a third season. Has there been any confirmation of that? Because the way Disney's been dicking with the schedule (a month between two episodes of a two-parter!) suggests to me that the network's not that interested in it.

Re: Gravity Falls
If it's going out, this is a great note to go out on.
On the other hand, this week's episode was apparently one of the highest-rated shows ever on Disney XD, so that suggests to me that maybe whoever's been short-shrifting it might start giving it a second look about now. I'm not seeing any confirmation of season 3 on a quick search, but the ratings are a positive sign.
And even if this really is the end, I bet whatever Hirsch comes up with next is pretty great too.
...and did I say two-parter? Because apparently Weirdmageddon is going to be more than two parts.
