Haha, Bataar is adorable that way. Pretty sure Toph doesn't do "Disappointed".

Well, perhaps I was being a tad subtle. By "disappointed," I meant "metalbending his codpiece to crush his Rocky Mountain Oysters like warm grapes".

Toph seems to be an expert at hurting people as badly as possible without actually injuring them. It's terrifying to think sometimes how regularly she hits people with the same attack that maybe killed Jet.

Bryan Konietzko warned that today's episode is going to be a clip show.

Apparently it's also supposed to be Korra's "Ember Island Players."

Holy shit the phone conference from Varrick's story.

Holy goddamn shit ahahaha.

"Prince Wu rifftracks' Mako's story" was pretty fucking hilarious too.

So, just to make sure, we're all waiting for this next episode, right?

Why half that episode was not Varrick's take on the recap is beyond me.

To be honest this season is the first time I didn't think "Asami has a crush on Korra" is the only logical explanation for why she puts up with this shit.

(Of course, it's also the first season in which she doesn't just put up with this shit.)

Wow, that's actually pretty good hand animation.

...what?

The week of the 15 was very conductive to korrasaming with the scene about the letters in the restaurant. I was quite pleased with that.

This episode really felt like two or more episodes crammed into one. Mostly this resulted in an alright but very bland setup episode, but I think they really robbed Korra's confrontation with Zaheer of all power or interest. There have been good things about this season, but man the pacing has just been awful.

On the plus side YEAH WE'RE GONNA GET A LIN THROWDOWN SHOWDOWN AHA YES

Yeah, the scene was cool, but very rushed.

Yeah it was basically half a season's build up, with multiple false starts on a recovery and then everything boils down to thirty seconds that basically go "Hi, asshole. You don't scare me." "Yes I do. BOOGA BOOGA." "Yaaaa!" "Oh but it's okay, I'm chill now." "You are? Bullshit." "No really, I am and also I will add a throwaway line about us having common cause." "Sure what have I got to lose." TIME PARADOX SPIRIT WORLD "Oh okay that worked, cool.".

THAT was a conversation that could have taken a full episode, if done right.

So THAT's why we had a clip show last week.

I was sort of pissed that they wasted an episode on a clip show when they could have put that time to much better use than a recap.

But Varrick's storytelling man.

Sometimes I think that the post-mortem on the two series is going to be very interesting.

... Maybe it will actually be very boring and Nick gave the writers enough rope to trip themselves with.

So far I feel like Korra had way higher potential and reached higher spots in places but was way more inconsistent in quality and blew a ton of opportunities. Overall I'd maybe rate them the same, barring an amazing or catastrophic series finale.

EDIT: I'm really wondering how or if my opinion of the fourth season might change if I sat and watched it all in one go (after it's finished, I mean).
