Well shit.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
God dammit.
I'd heard the stories of him sending supportive letters back to kids who said they were interested in getting into the business. Curse me for a fool for thinking how kind and generous that sounded.

What is this and how come the princess of hell is so cute?
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
How can you die if you're already in hell?
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
How many endings do you think this one has?

Wait... Vivienne Medrano?
Is this Izzy Medrano's sister?
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
The latest ep, Jaws!, was really good. I've realized I love this show when it's Lena, Webby, and Lena's shadowy evil aunt - they're a hundred times better than the core cast.
Nice seeing the Lena plot progress, too, I just wish it wasn't at a rate of like one plot development every four months.

I don't know if I've mentioned how much I'm loving Justice League Action, but I just watched an episode that had Cain and the House of Mystery in it. It's like Sam Register looked back at Batman: TB&TB and said, "Oh, you thought Gentleman Ghost and B'wana Beast were deep cuts? Perhaps you would like to take that up with my friend Space Cabbie."
Also, G-rated John Constantine is one of those things that work amazingly well precisely because they should absolutely not work at all.

Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Well this is promising.
The credited writer is Mairghread Scott, who just finished a superb run on Transformers: Windblade/Till All Are One. So she's got some experience taking a traditionally-male franchise and putting women in the lead roles.
The first episode is table-setting, as you'd expect; it introduces the cast and the premise (Ghost Spider/Spider-Gwen is on the run after being framed for murder; Captain George Stacy is leading the investigation, unaware that Ghost Spider is actually his own daughter.) Chloe Bennett reprises the role of Daisy "Quake" Johnson, which...well, she seems like a very nice lady and I don't begrudge her the paycheck, but I'm gonna be honest, I have exclaimed "Dull surprise!" on probably dozens of occasions while watching her on SHIELD. She...doesn't have a lot of range as an actor, is what I'm saying.
Milana Vayntrub as Squirrel Girl is apparently another carryover from a live-action series; she's also playing SG in the upcoming New Warriors series, which...apparently is still happening? Last I heard the pilot had scored really well with test audiences but Freeform passed on it and Disney was shopping it to other networks.
Anyhow, Marvel Rising. Not sure when the series is going to run, but this is a promising enough start.
I particularly like that the women all have different body types. On some level, it's absurd that that's even praiseworthy, because women should have different body types -- but, well, unfortunately this is unusual enough that it's notable when it happens.

Ducktales finale had waaaaaaaaaaay too much shit going on in it, but, some of it was great. Overall, I liked it, but god, I wish this should would pick a tone and stick with it.
Pretty fucked up how my favorite character was obliterated from the karmic cycle, never to return!

Oh gods, Webby no!
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Wow she looks like a Saint Seiya.

The joke was predictable but the animation/characters/etc all seems charming enough to warrant a watch.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
I don't know how I missed that Noelle Stevenson (Nimona, Lumberjanes) is the showrunner on this, but she is. I think it looks pretty good!
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Has Dreamworks ever had its name on 2D animation before?
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Yeah, on a lot of their Netflix shows based on their films actually. It seems like half and half odds these days whether they'll go for something that looks just like the film or something with its own style to it.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Castlevania Season 2 is fucking excellent.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Trevor, though. It's like trying to read an extended universe Star Wars series where the PoV guy's called Geoff.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Ellis drew the line at "De Nasty".
