Truthiness! (Onion, Clickhole, etc.)
I know we have the general links thread, but it might be a bit cleaner to just have one for parody stuff only.

Regrettably, John Oliver does not actually literally destroy pinatas as the headline promises; he only literally destroys ONE pinata.

4 Reasons Why Emma Watson Is The Absolute Greatest, And 4 Reasons Why Jennifer Lawrence Is The Absolute Greatest: A List Moderated By Jim Lehrer
Good evening from the University of Arkansas’ historic Peabody Hall. I’m Jim Lehrer, longtime anchor for the PBS NewsHour, and your moderator for this internet list. The topic tonight: Who is, literally, the absolute best ever? We will hear arguments in favor of actress Emma Watson, as well as in favor of actress Jennifer Lawrence.
Each side will have the opportunity to give four reasons for its position, with an emphasis throughout on clarity and specificity. Rounds will follow a format of one picture or one GIF, accompanied by one caption of up to 20 words.

Motion to ban clickhole as it's basically buzzfeed.

How can we ban them when they're cranking out stuff like this: How to get nude pics of any celebrity (Prrrrrobably SFW. Probably.)
I'm dying here. That video is actually killing me.

You...get that it's a parody of Buzzfeed, right?

I think Sei was making a joke about Buzzfeed already Poe's Law-ing itself.
You Won't Believe the 5 Incredible Reasons sei's an Idiot
Honestly, I didn't.
If it GIFs like a duck, has headlines like duck, yada yada, Poe's Law. (The extremism here would be stupid, garbage-quality content.)
They're using the same methods and in some cases article quality. They may be slightly more self aware, but the scuzzy feeling, it's still right there. This feels far more like an attempt to capitalize on the format than a real parody.
It seems we've come to satirizing flu season by running up and vomiting on people.
Only one conclusion to draw.

I really don't think Here's a Fucking Anime Quiz is hard to pick out as parody.
Re: Truthiness! (Onion, Clickhole, etc.)
Sure, but I was judging by the Watson/Lawrence article.
It was too true to the original for my tastes.
The mature response to seeing that something sucks isn't to request to ban it, though. So, there's that.

Re: Truthiness! (Onion, Clickhole, etc.)
It's been amazing seeing Oliver carve out a niche in such a short period of time.
I have to admit that I wondered if a third comedy news show, in addition to Stewart and Colbert, would be redundant, but he's figured it out: where Stewart is headline news and Colbert is punditry, Oliver is doing something more akin to Frontline and 60 Minutes. He picks a subject which is timely but not necessarily up-to-the-minute, and he fucking eviscerates it over 15 or 20 minutes.
And he really seems to be doing a commendable job of raising awareness of these issues. He's raised public awareness of the net neutrality debate the way Colbert did for SuperPACs, he's nailed the climate science "debate" and the private prison lobby, and last Sunday's show about the Miss America pageant has managed to raise tens of thousands for women's scholarships.

This is the world we live in, where one of the only reliable educators are the comedians.
Re: Truthiness! (Onion, Clickhole, etc.)
The fact that he tackled the fucking prison system in a comedy hour is incredible. I can't believe he actually pulled that off.
Re: Truthiness! (Onion, Clickhole, etc.)
Still the toughest one to watch. But yeah, he pulled it off all right.
Re: Truthiness! (Onion, Clickhole, etc.)
Considering he basically lectured his viewers on how broken the prison system is for 15 straight minutes, it's impressive he kept most people's attention.
