I cannot find a decent version of the original MSX version of Snatcher's Theme of Katherine. All of the readily locatable online ones are all from weird remakes and other crap and they sound like shit.

Out of protest, here's an extremely extended version of Pleasure of Tension

That's pretty sick. I need to check out Pyre in general.

I dunno if it's nostalgia for playing Dragon Crystal and Sonic on my sister's boyfriend's Game Gear, but I love the music on that system. There's something very distinct about the Master System's sound hardware that makes it sound almost like a European NES to me for some reason and the Game Gear just seems to up the effect to 11. There's something very dreamlike and pastoral to a lot of the tracks for it.

Here's a couple from this Sailor moon game Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon S for the Game Gear by Hikoshi Hashimoto:

STAGE 4 - Infinity Academy

STAGE 5 - Tomoe Laboratory

I remember discovering that track when Romo linked it way back when I ran the Best NES Music Poll. Amazing track.

Yeah, fuck Epona; brown assed, basic-basketball bitch.

(I never really played Ocarina of Time)

Ghost Pilots - Ending Credits - Masahiko Hataya

Bit of a shorty here, but I like how this Ghost Pilots track sounds like some sort of intense and danger-filled cold open to a TV show about a loveable crew of hotdoggin' bush pilots, that then cuts suddenly to the much more cheerful show opening title sequence.

I'm not really a Jeroen Tel guy most of time, but I like this track he did for the NES game OVERLORD (called Supremacy: Your Will Be Done outside of NA)

Title - Overlord - NES - Jeroen Tel

Also, can we talk about how fucking radical this presentation is in this game overall?

it's like awesome little pixel art animations: the game.

Going into Shadow Tactics, you probably have a pretty accurate idea of how it's gonna sound before you even boot it up for the first time. But man, the execution is really up there. Bird's eye view stealth games are such a perfect environment for delicate melodies with that kind of character.

I had a Resident Evil 4 LP playing in the background for a while, and for a moment it occurred to me that some glitch in the universe could suddenly swap its save music and Dark Souls' menu music and I bet no one playing either game would realize it.

And I'm surprised I didn't post this a while back when I was getting into it.

When I watched last night's Late Show, I was not expecting Stay Human to cover the Green Hill theme right before they went to commercial.

It's not on YouTube, so you'll have to find the episode. (You won't hear the whole thing, just the beginning before the commercial break and the end after it.) But here's Jon Batiste covering it on piano on the Hollywood Africans album.

It still bugs me up that apparently this is all one can find of their Song of Storms cover.
