It's weird to me that Lost Woods has become the de facto Zelda theme. Don't get me wrong, it's a great little track, but there are a lot of great tracks in Zelda and most of them aren't about the home of the perma-children.

The cynic in me says because it's the first major theme so it's the one the most people saw regardless of how much of the game they experienced.

But it could very well just be that an actual game mechanic is that your ass better be constantly listening to that song if you ever want to get out of here.

Playing Collection of Mana and I had only vaguely remembered that SD3 comes out of its prologue to this song and it hit me as the best tone-setting I'd seen up until that point:

Huh, did the C64 version of Tetris really have a single 25-minute song for its BGM?

It is a permanent mystery to me how anyone could be in charge of putting together the Code Vein soundtrack and not include even one version of Memory of the Lost on it. If you let them have a go at Final Fantasy 6, they'd find a way to omit Terra's theme.



But it does have Towards the Eternal Glory, so, sins half forgiven I guess.

Hey I just posted about Outer Wilds in the Game Deals thread even though it was more of a Watcha Playin' or full review or something but w/e anyway the music is real good too.

Most of it is so incredibly atmospheric that it wasn't until I listened to the OST on its own that I realized music was playing at all it felt so natural in the settings. Anyway here are the three probably best songs and no spoilery titles. They are all of course much better knowing their context still.
