I've played maybe a dozen matches online and had two disconnects, one because my router randomly reset and the other due to someone else losing internet temporarily.

I occasionally get lag but that's only with 4 people. Never had a problem 1 on 1.

Anecdotal evidence says that Smash Bros returns to that glorious time when lag happens randomly, in different ways, at different times, under different conditions, to different people, and you will never know why.

I got Ness after beating Classic once (with Mario), and nothing for beating Classic twice (with Zelda the second time). Either there's a random element or some other variables that haven't been documented.

ETA: and got Dark Pit the THIRD time I beat Classic (this time with Fox on a higher difficulty).

Nah. That information's just wrong on a lot of them. Also, you unlock a character every ten matches up to 120 matches.

Sorry, Caithness. I denied you smashing when you tried early because that was the title bout I mentioned earlier in this thread.

Harmony of Heroes: 101 covers of Smash Bros tunes, free download.

Initial impressions:

Wow is this thing packaged inconveniently. I downloaded the lossless version, which is a torrent of a 5.65GB RAR of 16 different fucking zipfiles. How does that even make sense? Why would you do that? Unless you (a) do not understand that compressing compressed files two more times does not actually make them any smaller and/or (b) hate the people downloading your torrent?

And also, whoever decided to name the files either did not know there were going to be more than 100 of them, or does not understand what the point of adding a leading zero to a number is. Calling your files "01 Challenger Approaching.m4a", "02 Sunset at Mushroom Castle.m4a", etc. when you have a triple-digit number of files is stupid.

Oh, and maybe I'll have an opinion on the music later. Do you know how long it takes to decompress 16 zipfiles inside 1 rar file?

Horribly packaged, stupidly massive lossless version? This must be an OCRemix project.

How can it be OCRemix if I'm ten tracks in and so far I've only had to skip one because the fake drums were so overpowering?

Played 4 player local, unplayable lag.

Then we decided to all connect to the internet and use online despite being in the same room. No lag.

Additionally: I was accused of picking the cheap character by my friends for playing Mii brawler with a certain move set.

I have since picked up mac to show them the true meaning of pain.

This is the first Smash since 64 I find myself playing more than one or two people. I keep bouncing around to the point it's hurting my playing because I'm not keeping things straight. I'm in a solid rotation of Villager, Mii Brawler, and DHD. Secondary rotations are Bowser Jr, Pac, and Olimar. And there's a few characters I want to get into besides so I try them out occasionally.

The online mode is getting to me. I've been experiencing a lot of lag today for some reason, which hasn't happened to this degree so far. And not being able to play Mii Fighters is really cramping my fun. How am I supposed to feel better about my life if a little tiny me doesn't go around beating up people in other countries? And let me tell you. People HATE fighting Duck Hunt Dog. As soon as I bring him out, people quit. It's kind of fun in its own way.

Still salty that the Wii U release is coming so much later than the 3DS one.

What was the rationale, "Spotpass takes longer to set up than all the bullshit Wii U community features?" or was it just, "We need a holiday release some person might give a shit about?"

Since I haven't seen the news posted here yet: Smash WiiU to come out November 21st (or: the same day as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire)
