Player: Hey Wizards, my LGS is charging WAY too much for certain commander decks! Can you do something about it?
Wizards: Sure thing, Billy! Here you go! https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/a ... 2019-02-18

Re: A Magical Gathering
“Magic: The Gathering” is officially the world’s most complex game
As I understand it, this is only one of two or three possible measures of "complexity" (though it would still rate highly on a different measure?) and at least some of this particular claim is simply because Magic has many potential game states which go infinite, which such an algorithm cannot by definition calculate.
Still interesting though.

Re: A Magical Gathering
"Number of gamestates" is pretty bland as far as a measure of complexity goes, but I agree it's interesting regardless.
A more interesting definition of complexity would be something like "without looking up the card or the rules for the card, explain to a new player how 'Old Fogey' works"

"what's protection from homerids do"
"nothing, because the only card anyone plays from Fallen Empires is Hymn"

Or Rocket-Powered-Turbo-Slug, for that matter.

I have a Changeling tribal deck, with a bunch of the highest-quality lords and then a buttload of Changelings. The commander is Sliver Hivelord.

I see someone's never played against 8-Whack.

Re: A Magical Gathering
I could definitely understand why an 8-Whack would give you homerids.
Re: A Magical Gathering
It's true, I always forget good old Goblin Grenade is from FE. Which is weird because 8-whack is like, my number one "stupid, but still deadly" deck. And yes I divide my decks into categories like that, like any MTG player who's in it for the long term.
Re: A Magical Gathering
So how about Yuuya Watanabe getting banned for 2.5 years for marked sleeves on his Tron lands? Almost slick with only marking 3 of the 4 of each land, but hard to play off "oh it's just from handling" when it's identical marks on the same lands.

Oh yeah. He tried to brass it out, even putting up photos and such, but in the end the judges were absolutely correct in their original assessment that the chances of this happening by accident are astronomical.
Re: A Magical Gathering
I'm all for harsh punishments of cheaters (as long as the evidence is clear, which in that case it absolutely is) because it's like fines for corps, if you don't fine them excessively or include jail time, they're just going to work in the punishment as cost of business and continue cheating/breaking the law.
Also, fuck that guy. Cheating in a contest of skill is dishonorable.

Re: A Magical Gathering
I mean, "getting banned from organized play MTG for 2.5 years" isn't even really that much of a penalty in the grand scheme of things.

Also, that is the FATTEST tail I've ever seen on a shorthair cat. Nor does the tail appear to be poofed out; it's just THAT THICC.
