A lot of the time really big super-rare items are listed on eBay as a way of getting free advertising and are then taken down once a sale is arranged privately.

Yeah, I went and looked and the Alpha Lotus and Summer Serendib are both still listed. So it seems more likely that someone made a credible offer. Watch this end up in Shkreli's collection or something.

Leovold is banned and Protean Hulk is unbanned in Commander.

Hilariously, Leovold shot up to $60 earlier today on the news of Top's banning, so who knows where he'll end up.

I'm sad because I have a Leovold deck with a foil commander. But I'll just revamp it to Thrasios/Tymna and make it every scarier.

And now they emergency-banned Felidar Guardian.

Yeah, that's nuts. Emergency bans are basically unprecedented, having only happened once before. But the fact that this was only two days after the regular B&R announcement smacks of INCREDIBLE incompetence and supreme unreliability. This is exactly the sort of thing that really damages trust.

Apparently it was because they needed post-Amonkhet results from MTGO... but it's not like they couldn't have delayed the B&R announcement a week.

Or, two days even. People depend on those announcements to make financial decisions and a LOT of purchases are made in the immediate wake of B&R announcements now. A lot of people just lost a lot of money.

On that note, apparently SCG is letting people return Saheeli Rais they bought in the intervening two days.

There were some big announcements today. I like the idea of large sets that aren't tied to a specific world. Hopefully that will let the story and gameplay mechanics breathe. I especially like that they're going to tone down the focus on the Gatewatch. It was getting really obnoxious.

Also, there's a whole week of major announcements.
