TITANFALL
Re: TITANFALL
So I like the experiment, but it definitely leaves me wanting more from it. I wish it was more smoothly integrated into the multiplayer. As it stands, Campaign is its own playlist with a very specific map rotation and a few more seconds before and after each map to manage triggers.
If they wanted to smooth this out, I feel like they could've made it so that players who aren't in campaign just join and move through the mission in a slightly more streamlined way. Give campaign players a cinematic between missions and some extra chatter maybe, but leave that out for everyone else?
Though as much as this is a "COD GAME" , and as much as I think it would've benefited from a "real single player experience", the end result is.. acceptable.

It's never a good sign when someone decides that Brink's solution to singleplayer was a good idea. Although I'm sure other games did the same thing, Brink is still going to stand out in my mind.
Re: TITANFALL
I for one am glad to see the pretense of single-player dropped almost completely. If you want a single player shooter campaign there are plenty of options, but with a game like this where the multi-player is and always was the point, take a lesson from Quake 3 guys. it's only been 15 years since this shit was figured out.
Re: TITANFALL
I haven't gone through the campaign yet myself, but I am a fan to hear that. I am always confused when people are upset the game everyone is getting for multiplayer doesn't have a single player campaign and vice versa. Wouldn't you rather the development time and assets be put into the part of the game you care about instead of some tacked on portion that was only included due to executive mandate and is sure to be awful anyway?

Speaking of someone who is still kind of butthurt that I paid full price at release for it, yea it kind of damned the idea.
Titanfall is a great game. My one issue is I don't know if it's $60 great. There's a finely crafted selection of weapons (that needs to be re-balanced) a very fair assortment of maps, and in general the customization feels.. adequate.
The polish is good, as there's few bugs/crashes but there's a few glaring oversights in a multiplayer exclusive game. Like skill-based and team matchmaking. There's a good chance you'll end up against a 4+ team of people who are decent at the game, and will smash your pug of 6 people. It's a bit frustrating at times, but it's easily fixed by just finding a new match, but it still shouldn't happen.
What I sort of hope is that we get more actual content besides maps through DLC. Which is to say: Guns/Chassis/Abilities come through free DLC, and then the maps are the only paid part. I'm not optimistic though.

This is a level specific intro when playing a campaign match I recorded because it's my favorite. (Also, Shadowplay is pretty good.)
Here's the opposing side of the same level

Titanfall's anti-cheat method is pretty great: if you get caught cheating, you can still play the game, but only with other cheaters.
Hopefully the aimbot cheat you paid for really is the best, or these all-cheater matches could be frustrating for you. Good luck.

This is a real damned-if-you-do situation; obviously you don't want to encourage a pay-to-win situation but making maps paid DLC means people who don't buy them eventually just straight-up cannot get placed in the matchmaking rotation (a problem I am currently facing after firing up SPESS MAHREHN for the first time in a while).
Re: TITANFALL
I'm Generation 5, going for the 50 gooser kills to get to generation 6. Meaning a lot of just grinding it out for the chance to get the kills(and actually getting them)
But I take solace in the fact I end up against clowns like this sometimes

Re: TITANFALL
Gen6. It was bad but not as horrific as I thought. It also turned me into a monster of a player in regards to accuracy, movement, and general level I play at. I've turned into "that asshole" that makes people quit by running circles around them and wrecking them for the whole round.
I'm enjoying the game, but I worry about the longevity of the community in general. Especially with DLC on the horizon that will fragment the community. Origin doesn't seem to have player numbers publicly displayed like steam, which leaves me scratching my head as to how many players this game actually has.

With the media promotion its gotten, I feel like it's not a good sign if you have to ask.
Re: TITANFALL
Sometimes[read as: One in 10 new teams?] I'm running into the same people despite the fact the matchmaking is generally random (skill based is a half lie). I may be willing to chalk that up to regions? I'm only on US West, for example. It's hard to actually judge how big it is, though, because all you can ever play is 6v6 and you never really have a problem filling a match. My judgement of how 'big' the community of this game is is monitoring the 4chan /vg/ general thread and comparing how fast the thread moves and is replaced vs other games, as well as seeing how populated/active the subreddit is. This is obviously not the best metric for how big a game is, but it gives me something to go on.
Gen 8, in any case. I should hit 10 in a decent time frame, which is the (current?) cap. Then I will be unshackled and able to use my favorite and best weapons again.
