Well, that sure does look like all the 2D Final Fantasy cell phone ports.

...

...okay, better than the FF6 one.

That looks like a bad RPG Maker game.

I was about to say!

Holy christmas that looks awful.

Did they just rip the sound for Ultima directly out of FF Tactics?

The article has now been updated to state that it is almost certainly a scam. lol

I guess it speaks to the quality of some of Square-Enix's mobile games recently that I actually believed the screenshots could have been real... maybe unfinished, but real.

No. I'm sure I'm just gullible.

It honestly looked better than actual Square-Enix mobile ports. Artwork that looked like it was remade for the mobile from the ground up instead of done in Flash real quick and pooped into the same grossly scaled tilemaps.

In other news, apparently we'll be getting Battle with Magus after all (and Corridors of Time for ya Spram), and a couple more Nier tracks (Hills of Radiant Winds and Shadowlord), so hurrays all around.

He's the Mystic Quest dude, though I guess he was only named in the manual?

You can tell he's the one from the American game because he has the Kirby Angry Eyes all the time.

Named in the Manual, then more or less canonized by the time Dissidia rolled around and they named a moogle after him. Then they tossed him into Theatrhythm Curtain Call with a Mega Grenade.

Alas, Avalon!

Final Fantasy XI to cease content updates in November and drop PS2/X360 support next March. Windows support will remain so you can keep paying 12 bucks a month to work out whatever bullshit is keeping you playing the Last of the Everquest Clones.

They're releasing three storyline scenarios over the next year for closure, and hinting at some Monty Haul shit to speed up the whole pathos thing.

Here is promo art featuring basically every major story NPC of the past 13 years:

So in a last minute of unfortunate realization, I learned due to some weird fuckery between Steam and Square Enix that FF14: ARR copies purchased through Steam aren't compatible with CD keys with other PC copies of FF14 Heavensward. So if anyone is interested in paying for a Heavensward cd key plus digital collector's edition content via Paypal, Steam, or whatever I'll be selling them for $50. Just keep in mind it MUST be a non-Steam purchased version. If you have the option for Steam Wallet to pay for your sub under your account, my keys will not do you any good. This also includes early access.

I think I'm going to buy a used copy of Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection on the PSP, specifically for The After Years. Anyone know if it's worth the $15 it would cost to get a copy shipped over from Amazon?

On a related note, I'm interested if anyone wants to sell me their copy for slightly less.

It's available on Steam so you'll probably be able to be $15 bucks at some point in the next couple days, but you should be warned that After Years is Not Good: it is an adequate poop-grinder at best, and if you want to play Final Fantasy on your PSP while pooping, After Years will take away valuable time you could spend on replaying Crisis Core.

Yeah, saw the 3D remake had gone up on Steam. Watched some gameplay and it just looked really barren and bleh. I know that's exactly how it is in the top-down view, but it's somehow less glaring when it's not a 3D environment.

Sucks, because the 3D remake of FFIV was absolutely fantastic.

Anyways, I want it on a mobile, if possible, so PSP's the way I'm probably going to go. It just looks better.

Maybe I should just watch some gameplay of the PSP version on youtube and make the call that way.

Okay yeah this is no plot, all dungeon grinding. Welp.

The sheer variety of playable characters and potential party setups is interesting but it is truly just a mediocre dungeon crawl.

You mean The After Years? Yes, the same dungeons as in FF4. The best part of the game was the "World of Ruin"-Like part where you run around the overworld searching for something I forgot.

Anyone else here stupid enough to play Final Fantasy Record Keeper? I kinda like it. I feel so ashamed.

Eeyup. It's a fun enough diversion if you don't sink cash into it. Predatory as fuck to try to get you to, though.
