By the by, does anyone know of a decent creative server?

I guess there used to be a Brontoserver, but I don't know that it's still up?

I'd like to do 1.8, so whoever has that will need to have changed from Bukkit (mired in legal nonsense) to spigot.

There are no Minecraft servers up as far as I know but we can spin one.

That would be really cool. If you are up for getting one online, Starr says she's fine with helping set up all the nuts-and-bolts stuff like getting Spigot running (she's been Admin/Op/Mod on a good half-dozen Minecraft servers before)

Straw poll: If we do this, do people want a dual-map survival/creative server, single map with the option to choose modes, or just creative (i.e. everyone just wants to play with legos)?

Who else is actually interested in a Brontoserver?

I'm down, although I haven't played without massive overhaul tech-type mods (usually Tekkit) in a while 'cause it gives a purpose beyond 'play with legos'.

Single map with the option to choose modes sounds like a decent compromise between doing stuff the hard way and just playing with legos.

Not that I have plans to get back into it anytime soon, but I would personally have no interest in creative mode.

That is okay! That's why we're asking. I want creative because I like playing voxel legos sometimes to fart around.

Starr doesn't mind doing the entire setup and her entire modus is to have a two-map creative/survival server so everyone's happy. As long as disc space is not an issue, that's what will be implemented. I PM'd Brent with the requirements, to see what's available (It'll take about 10 Gb for a two-map server and 6 Gb for a single-map server).

Alternately, if space is an issue or people really want us all on the same map, then we can do a dual-mode map (Default survival, but players can simply choose to be in creative mode if they want. Basically just like single-player.). I figure we're all responsible enough that anyone who wants to play survival on a server like that will just go ahead and play survival without anyone trying to "cheat". Having two maps does let us explode the survival map very easily though.

Eas' side, yo.

(that is a neat idea, not sure how easy that is to implement with the current server tools though)

Two-map servers usually use the multiverse plugin which uses a shared Nether as the link point (also if players like teleports can be set up). Usually this works out that a creative player can build there if they want, but it's a survival world. I have no interest in colonizing the Nether myself, so I expect that for for most intents and purposes, the Nether will be survival. I know Starr likes to play survival and she always sets up shop in the Nether as her primary base.

For the pro-survival players, do you guys want hardcore survival or do you want basic commands like /home and teleport to player left in?

Server's up. zanzibarland.brontoforum.us

Default will load you on survival. If you want to play on Creative, you can teleport there. The command to go between worlds is as follows:

To go to Big Shell (creative), type: /mvtp BigShell
To go back to Zanzibarland (survival), just type: /mvtp ZanzibarLand

The Nether and End are shared, but cannot be teleported to and will by default be survival (so in theory a connection can be built allowing travel between the worlds without requiring the teleport command).

The server is whitelist, so please post your minecraft username if you want to be able to get on!

We are also trying to fix the /list command so you can all see who's online without using tab.

If you guys have friends who you trust and want to invite, then by all means post their names here for whitelisting. I don't think any of us were insisting that this be Bronto-exclusive or anything?

Oh also you will probably see 'bosshoggatog' on the server sometimes. That's Starr.
