Can someone explain what a splatfest is?
Is it just a tournament? Some kind of game mode? I could look this up, but I want a player's perspective, not a clinical definition.

It's an in-game event where players choose a side ("Cake" vs. "Ice Cream", "White/Gold" vs. "Blue/Black", etc.) and compete to earn points for that side. The reward for participating is a large amount of normally difficult to obtain upgrade items. Also the lobby gets turned into an outdoor concert while it's going on.
