Undertale
Re: Undertale
Yeah, Zara promoted the hell out of this thing on Twitter etc. last week, so I picked it up. I haven't played much yet but preliminary testing suggests that this game is amazing.

You don't understand.
For fucking years now I've been *kind of* enjoying games despite their flaws and all that crap and all the while wondering if I was dead inside and it was time to stop playing videogames and be a family man.
And it turns out NO THESE GAMES WERE ALL JUST KIND OF CRAP ZARA YOU CAN STILL PLAY A GAME AND FEEL HONESTLY HAPPY ABOUT IT.

Re: Undertale
The features list for this game on is ~Amazing~
features:
Killing is unnecessary: negotiate out of danger using the unique battle system.
Time your attacks for extra damage, then dodge enemy attacks in a style reminiscent of top-down shooters.
Original art and soundtrack brimming with personality.
Soulful, character-rich story with an emphasis on humor.
Created mostly by one person.
Become friends with all of the bosses!
At least 5 dogs.
You can date a skeleton.
Hmmm... now there are 6 dogs...?
Maybe you won't want to date the skeleton.
I thought I found a 7th dog, but it was actually just the 3rd dog.
If you play this game, can you count the dogs for me...? I'm not good at it.
Re: Undertale
Undertale is so darn good! Game of the year, MGS5 had bad luck coming out so close to undertale.
Best experience i've had playing videogames for a long time.

Don't try to escape to an earlier game.

Re: Undertale
This game is good.
I feel like I have something to say, but I really don't. Nothing in particular made me feel anything more impacting than other scenes. There are certainly great moments, but there's enough of them for it to just sit as one big experience. I really want to replay it and see everything organically, but also want to read everything I can to make sure I'm not missing out on things.
Even beating the game I feel like I haven't finished it, I would have to play through at least a few more times to see everything there is. One spot I can start though is that it rewarded that crap out of stuff I do in every RPG even though it never makes a difference. Beginner gear selling for a bunch when you finally get to a shop / having value if you hold on to it longer than you really should. Getting confirmation that that one reserved inventory space wasn't wasted on what was just a healing item with flavor text when Sans informed me that the snowman was ecstatic. The pie giving debuffs to asgore. Really I guess I just never throw out items I think have some story significance, even though they usually don't.
So people should probably play it before it inevitably blows up and gets spoiled. The way people are reacting to this game I'm already telling friends to look out for a phone / marketplace release on something.

Re: Undertale
Man, just beat the game the second time, and boy am I feeling frisky.
Re: Undertale
one of the problems with Undertale is it's so personal you can't really talk it up with other people much beyond general nerdy excited handwaving like "AND THEN THE ONE PART WHERE HE'S LIKE, AND THE THING IS LIKE...YEAH"

Who's your favorite character and why is it Undyne

Flowey is Resetti's grand master. He berates you for watching a genocide LP, calling you out on wanting to see the torture without having the balls to do the dirty work yourself.
