Street Fighter V: V has come to
Hey, if any of you butts are playing Street Fighter V, my SFID is OdysseyKnight for fight times.
Re: Street Fighter V: V has come to
I will probably buy into SFV eventually, but I'm more interested in Revelator.

I'm waiting for it to be less shitty or less expensive.
Re: Street Fighter V: V has come to
Yeah. Jimquisition touched on it, recently.
Re: Street Fighter V: V has come to
Apparently fucking Pokken Tournament is on pace to outsell SFV.

When you release an unfinished game for full price, that tends to happen. Well, that and plus the obvious fact that Pokémon has a much larger fan base and appeal.

Re: Street Fighter V: V has come to
SFV officially has 8 frames of input delay.
Good Lord am I glad I didn't buy this garbage at launch.
Anyway
So neat even though it PROBABLY made playing an already awkward game feel even more like horse shit.

Legend says that they were forced to replace it with the 6-button setup when these cabinets came to America. Turns out Americans are much less cavalier about elbow-dropping arcade buttons if it would get them a slightly stronger attack.

Yeah I saw a kid axe kick one of those things once.
... okay, I axe kicked one of those things once.
... okay lots.

Mike Bison looks real cool in SFV
Re: Street Fighter V: V has come to
That robe looks like it would really restrict his movement.
I don't know why that bothers me but other ridiculous character designs in street fighter don't.

But how could a robe impede Rog's movement? Fucker's got arms like someone's waist. I just wish when he threw rush punches it started tearing off him.
Re: Street Fighter V: V has come to
Story mode was kind of dope as a long time fan of the series. The last hurrah for Shadaloo paving the way for the Illuminati in SF3. Also I think Urien is going to be my first character purchase (as much as I like the other characters released so far, I don't actually play any of them).
Heads up for Juri fans, she's cool as fuck. You only get to mess around with her a few times, but her changes are fascinating.

Urien is pretty tight in the story mode, and yeah, I really like how Juri looks overall, in terms of move set and animations.
I love Laura's characterization as this overly agressive, dim-witted bully who means well but always seems to try to solve everything with violence and is constantly bullying the shit out of her brother Sean. Now we know why Sean left to get trained by Ken.
I also love how when Dhalsim appears over top of Alex's truck hood, startling him, his first assumption is that this floating Indian yogi is a mugger.

You probably don't want to install the latest patch.

Let's drill down to the technical details: the capcom.sys kernel-level driver provides an IOCTL service to applications that disables SMEP on the computer, executes code at a given pointer, and then reenables SMEP. In other words, it switches off a crucial security defense in the operating system, then runs whatever instructions are given to it by the application, and then switches the protection back on.
SMEP [PDF] is a feature in modern Intel and AMD x86 processors that, when enabled, prevents kernel-level software from executing code in user-owned memory pages. It's there to stop hackers from tricking the operating system into running malicious software smuggled into an application's virtual memory space – the OS should only be able to run its own trusted code, not anything provided by any old app.
Capcom.sys completely blows this away on Windows: an application simply has to pass control codes 0xAA012044 and 0xAA013044 to the IOCTL, and a pointer to some instructions, and the driver will then jump to that block of code with full kernel permissions.
