oh, I guess I'm not just a bloody smear anymore

It's probably for the best that I died when I did, because I'd have been a trigger-happy maniac and likely would have shot one or more innocents.

Nah. The innocents don't have to find the Weretiger right away, but the wolves do. The innocents could start out wolf-hunting right away and force the wolves (and Devil) to concentrate on the Tiger.
