I stay out of the IRC channel specifically so there's a dedicated refuge from me, lol

(also because live chat would have me endlessly yammering and I spend enough time on various fora as it is)

Outerheaven is actually the most alive part of this whole community, as it has been steadily growing in audience over the last few years since developing a pretty solid and consistent management team. Replacing the previous system of one person at a time slowly going crazy trying to sort through submissions and make a fresh show every week for as long as they could take it.

I don't know quite how paranoid people are about it, but if you hit up the irc channel mentioned in post one they can lead you to Zanzibar Land. If you're not a cop.

I thought the Bronto version IS that channel "of internet lore"?

That's what I wondered. They're from the same general era, but has OHR had been through a bunch of splits and drama over the years, or is the subtitle just from a format shift?

The latter. There have never been competing Outerheaven broadcasts, but there have been a few periods where there was none.

I believe the subtitle is just because a lot of restarted threads from the previous boards got slightly new names. The old thread was Outer Heaven Strikes Again and I had to go look that up to remember it, because it's just Outer Heaven and always has been, and that thread is only called that to distinguish it from its own predecessor pyoko thread, and before that we're probably getting back into mailing around punchcards or something.

I know somebody over on Select Button mentioned an Outer Heaven broadcast at one point. I was startled to see how large a shadow it casts.

Yeah, I started encouraging people over there to start checking it out back when I did casts.

I literally go away for ONE maybe two DAYS AND RETURN TO SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL SPARKLY SHINY

One question, though, is porn-seeking an inside joke, too? I feel like there's promising and beautiful lore there, something of historical value and significance... Or porn, or both.

But speaking just for myself, actually it's the complete insularity and knowing winks and incredibly cosy atmosphere that make me want to stay. I don't particularly want a very fast-moving place where people go in and out all the time, and I must relearn everything the moment I wake up... I'd much rather be unaware of this or that, taking a sip from a tin coffee flask, and admiring all the dead/banned corpses piling up and smelling faintly of drywall.

That said, I do need to join irc at some point. Right now I am trying to wrangle kittens. It is tragic, but my holy orders are absolute; you should all be in awe of she.

Anyway, I'm not an old soldier, so can I truly surpass outer heaven? Who knows. It's a mystery.
What I do know is that even if I'm covered in goopy slime, I will clasp my hands in earnest hope for a better tomorrow.
... Seriously, I know I'm missing quite everything, and I adore it.

So before it was the Brontoforumus, it was the Seven Deadly Forums. Topics were generally divided up into where they fit into one of the classic sins. So yeah, the Lust board ended up being a bunch of people mostly posting and sharing (classy, refined, of impeccable taste) pornography, which meant it had to be hidden away from the general public, at which point registration "mysteriously" increased. Hence the flood of porn-seeking users.

also you'll never actually have fun here because karma is never coming back and we don't have pyos much less the trusting nature to SHARE our porn in the year of our goddamn eighteen, twentylord.

I mean, if it's written, there's no harm in - wait where are you going COME BACK
How the hell (oho) did you all fit some of the niche sins in? Superbia is a hard one for me to imagine, like 'I'm so proud I had a good haircut today?' of course - I'm not one to believe in sins, so much...

... And I really want to change my location/comical text blurb to be 'classy, refined, of impeccable taste.'
BUT AHA MOST IMPORTANTLY JOKE IS ON YOU
I NEVER HAVE FUN! wait

Think I've read your paragraph maybe five times and I still keep giggling. Can't really explain why, probably the finisher.
Goddamn eighteen.
Twentylord.

... okay, one last thing? is your username a reference to meat? because I feel there is something extra hilarious about telling a fresh-meat user like myself of the storied & sinful history of this place if so. or in general. I need to stop laughing and wake up, dang...

Niku's the guy whose going to show you weird Japanese stuff in the back of a station wagon while be driven to the worst get-together ever, where one fellow thought bringing roughly 30 people from across the country into his mom's townhome was a good idea.

We are a group of people who collectively shared ideas (Good and bad) through our teens and many through our twenties.

see once upon a time you could just share with a fella some good old fashioned wholesome shintaro kago manga, crudely compressed into the JPEG viewer of a sony playstation portable, and now it's all INSTAGRAMS and SNAPCHATS and that's what's wrong with the world today. also this whole thing anime's got for centaurs and porking their sisters and getting trapped in video games is honestly way more upsetting to me.

also yeah, i'm meat. except in most other parts of the internet, where i am a robot cleverly disguised as meat, because meat is always goddamn taken as a username.

It was an okay forum theme but Sloth, Wrath, and Lust got probably 80-90% of the traffic.

Honesty, this might be a good summary of why I'm setting down roots here, so long as you'll all have me. Were they really bad ideas, though, and would they be less bad if we involved more Montezuma and more -

heeeey. we're friends now. Also, I unironically recommend Junji Itoi's cat diary. It's not as beautiful/profane, but it's a different kind of beautiful/profane. And honestly, I cannot explain modern anime's fixation on centaur sisters porking their virtual reality assisted robot butler brother's harem or whatever but if you wanna complain about it grumpily with me, I can probably scrounge a foldable lawn chair or two. (Hopefully this won't give you twenty notifcations or whatnot. If it is, you can revoke our friendship.)

What was gluttony, anyway? Recipes? I kind of want to share recipes, here, but I'd post too often, probably.
Anyway, I'm definitely glad it diverged; there's a lot of different discussion here, and trying to pinhole topics into categories probably got funky, fast.

Wrath had "You know what I HATE?"
which spun off into things like Pride's "You know why I'm GREAT?" and Gluttony's "You know what I ATE?"

Lust something something MASTURBATE iirc

There's the "things that go in your mouth" thread for general food discussion but there's not a thread shortage demanding we all ration our posts or anything, go nuts with new threads to your heart's content
