Odd question, but would libera.chat terms permit hosting something like #ff? IIRC freenode was more for OSS and projects, rather than being a "hey nerds wanna hang out on our network dime" thing.

I know WFE/Bronto made shit like EK, but I'm not sure it counts.

I feel that there is some discord with using Discord. I'd be fine setting up shop anywhere.

if we accept approximately the same amount of downtime as the IRC bot lyao or the mastodon instance, Andy and I can look into hosting an IRC server and/or a matrix server, and/or a discord bridge.

In addition to a large influx of discord users, we've also set up a IRC-based refuge (for sickos that still prefer IRC) on irc.synirc.org
Channel names are the same as the ones on EsperNet have been.
