the funny thing is that the monster/death depicted is the very first encounter in the game and it's basically a scripted death.
The real first death is to PARK RANGER, a guy on a horse you can see from the first vantage point who will inevitably destroy first timers as they rationally assume that the very first enemy they see outside of the tutorial area is not a monster boss designed for you to fight five-ten hours from now.
They are of course wrong.
Ahh yes, final fantasy 2

This cat looks like it runs a whole city with an iron fist in the 1800's. He may or may not give you a quest if you ask.

You know, at some point I'll get around to griping about how a brobdingnagian part of why I find the FF6 Pixel Remaster look so unappealing is that they used the GBA palette as their base, apparently forgetting that the reason those colors are so goddamn bright is that it was a goddamn GBA game.

I feel like you should have directly embedded Since it's got the better video, and immediate parent shows up, too.
But yeah, the original caption of "I've finally seen a video of the Full Armor Gameboy transformation process" is pretty good!
How fleeting are all human passions compared with the massive continuity of ducks.

Incidentally, what the heck IS that "Wild Things" module anyway? At first I thought it was some huge extended battery pack, but realized that doesn't really mesh with the dang thing being plugged in. Or is it a power adaptor?
(it's been so long, I thought GBC already had it's own power adaptor... but maybe I'm just remembering that totally wrong)

Looks like it could be stereo speakers.Mongrel wrote:Incidentally, what the heck IS that "Wild Things" module anyway? At first I thought it was some huge extended battery pack, but realized that doesn't really mesh with the dang thing being plugged in. Or is it a power adaptor?

That seems like a good guess.
The GBC (and the original-model GBA) still used AAs; there may have been battery pack/charger accessories but built-in rechargeable batteries weren't a thing until the GBA SP. Its headphone jack was on the bottom, so a set of stereo speakers attaching to the bottom makes sense.
