Also, you can turn off filtering if you'd rather read about shit than coconuts.

Um... where? I don't see that in board preferences or elsewhere in the control panel.
Actually I don't see where you "sort posts by author" either?

User Control Panel, Board Preferences, Edit Display Options, Enable Censoring.

Blue space killed my parents and now I have devoted myself to a life of fighting crime and also blue space.
That and the post area doesn't fit itself to my window and I find that irritating and mildly inconvenient.
