BRONTOKON WEST 2014: 4TH OF JULY CALIFORNIA

Postby Romosome » Mon May 19, 2014 2:15 am

THE OFFICIAL THREAD OF OFFICIAL PLANNING AND PANIC

I am able to host YOU, yes you, the person reading this now, over 4th of July weekend in Orange County, CA, should you be able to make it there. Some of you can even crash at my place, probably. There is a pool. There will be videogames, and other people from the internet. I am less freaked out about this now than when we did it when I was like 19. We'e all marginally less crazy now.

Please post in this thread to announce if you'd like to come and be added to the guest list.

CURRENT GUEST LIST:

-Romosome
-Brentai
-MarsDragon
-Fanboymaster
-Lady
-Kishi
-Mazian
-Sei (+1)

POSSIBLE GUEST APPEARANCES BY:
-Romo's RL friends
-The possum that sometimes runs across the wall at night when you're in the hot tub looking at the stars

If you're somehow too shy to want it to be publically known you are going but not too shy to actually attend you may shoot me a private message. Any questions/comments/outcry/sudden demands to change everything go in this thread too.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it or not yet. If I do, I will do my best not to get sunburned on the first day and spend the rest of the weekend hanging out indoors without a shirt on. (Has it really been eight years already?)

I note that OC's about an hour's drive from my friend's new brewery; I expect I'd have to take a day to go and visit if I were in the area.

If I do make it out there, I'll probably be on my own (unless anyone in Phoenix metro -- or someone who can get to Phoenix Metro, or I suppose someone between Phoenix Metro and OC -- wants to carpool); wife for some reason seems nonplussed at the notion of spending the weekend with the likes of us, and bringing dog along would complicate things so that I'm probably better off leaving her at home with wife.

Do people who require $500 airfare get first dibs on couch space?

'cause I can maybe swing this if I don't have to buy a hotel, too.

Silver if you can't find a couch I'll subsidize your hotel.

Mmmmmmmaybe? It would depend on the specific days involved and on my work schedule, and I wouldn't know the latter until fairly close in.

I've got one sofa and one loveseat, if for some reason we need to take inventory of couch spaces.

Upgrading from a tentative yes to a definitely coming along barring the extreme unforeseen. Also willing to shove off the premises and get a cheap as I can hotel if space is an issue, willing to let someone else have sole use of the bed should it be required (and if they can stand being in the same room as me but that was kind of a given).

Holidays are dicey for me to get off work, but I'll try to sneak away to come to this.

I would love to come, if there are any brontites in the Sacramento area (or between there and the grapevine) who are willing to take on partial driving duties.

So the next important thing to figure out, after travel arrangements, is what we're going to mass LP while everyone's in the same room together.

Super Mario 3D World seemed the most entertaining.

Oh, and I should make sure we can do Four Swords Adventures. We also got original SNES Mario Kart, Goldeneye...

Alright, this is coming up fast. Official bump.

I'll be sending out PMs this weekend to remind people and confirm when they expect to arrive, as well as actually giving out my address. I figure we'll party over the weekend and I will kick everyone out on Monday. Let's get more posting going on in this thread and coordinate on what people are bringing!

I've got my retro consoles and such, though they aren't necessarily good for group play.

Given that I'm going to be either moving or recovering from recently moving, I don't think I'll be able to make it. You'll all just have to get by without shirtless sunburned Thad this time.

Everybody have fun; Romo's a great host and it should make for a great damn weekend.

I'm bringing every Psychic Force game I have. We will fight. Fight in the 90s.

I might also bring Magical Drop 3, for more anime game nostalgia.

I think both 3D Land and expensive Scotch are confirmed for Brawnto, but one thing I'm not doing is setting up that 14-piece Wii U monstrosity multiple times. I'll probably just leave it at the Doghaus for the weekend.
