State of the Brontos
Re: State of the Brontos
No way, we need to keep the post hall of fame so we never forget that we are all terrible.

I was thinking of porting over at least our 3DS friend codes list but I can't help but think this might be a good times to implement a better solution (I dunno, a wiki? Filling out our own god damn profiles? etc.) Also, trying to decide if such a thing should go in the private boards or not...
Wonder if there's a mod that would add specific fields for those to our profiles. I think 3DS friend codes and Steam ID's would be a lot more useful than, say, ICQ and Yahoo Messenger contact info.
Obviously not the highest-priority feature but worth looking into. It really is the kind of thing you need a database for; just posting them as text in big threads is pretty damn unwieldy.
(Better still would be if there were a way to just click on a link on somebody's profile and automatically add them as contacts on Steam/Live/whatever. Seems like that should be one of those trivial things for Valve and MS to support but I don't know if they do; you guys have probably noticed I haven't really done much online gaming since, oh, City of Heroes. And I think I made it to one or two group SF4 dealies.)
Re: State of the Brontos
We can just literally just copy-paste from the old thread in the archives.

Fyi I'm not ignoring requests, I'm just taking a much needed night off from brontoforum.us.
P.S. Everyone on a webspace: Your access directory is now www instead of html. Why? Because it's easier for me. Sorry!

You're fine. I straight-up missed the poll creation tab.
Re: State of the Brontos
Also is it possible to make the thing where it keeps you logged in actually you know work?
Re: State of the Brontos
I'm staying logged in just fine.
Another suggestion/question: Has anyone figured out how to make it so when you click on the name on the thread in view unread posts page take you to the last unread post?

Re: State of the Brontos
Click the eensie, tiny, Not-very-obvious yellow page and arrow icon.
Re: State of the Brontos
I was hoping there was a way to make it so I don't have to click that every time.
Re: State of the Brontos
One thing I hope for above all else is thread "avatars" that can be edited by the thread creator or admins. The thread icons from the Age of Arc helped with immediate visual identification and added a lot of charm. I don't doubt that it would be difficult or impossible though, but I felt the need to restate it.

Re: State of the Brontos
phpBB3 supports those natively (more natively than SMF did anyway) but they have to be uploaded up through the backend and then enabled in the admin panel. I'm looking into ways we can do it without requiring an admin action. Also want to see a finalized theme before we set a standard size for thread icons and smileys.
Re: State of the Brontos
Not sure if this is theme or coding, but the recent post list right on the main page was nice.
Re: State of the Brontos
My biggest peeve right now is exiting a board doesn't make the little icon to the left not red anymore.
Maybe I don't want to read the Balto thread and maybe I don't want to have to scroll down and click "mark all read"
Ever think of that, fascists?

Re: State of the Brontos
The problem is that a lot of people, me included, like it the other way around. And there's no way to implement a button to mark the unread things as unread.
Re: State of the Brontos
I meant the icon where it says "Board Shit" or something. The little t-rex used to take a nap, whether or not all the threads were read.
The other thing would be annoying as balls.

If we're going to keep the Thunderdome (and I still think we shouldn't), I think we should make it visible. So Google can properly penalize the spambot-linked sites.

Re: State of the Brontos
I support:
visible thunderdome (maybe it will attract more bots, or get a few to start actually responding)
avatars on the left
and request:
unread posts link on header / every page. Not just the homepage.
no i don't want to save my draft that's where the post button is supposed to be fuck

It'd be nice to be able to get a preview from the quick reply box, too.
Re: State of the Brontos
Not sure if on purpose but I can't edit stuff on the secret board even as an admin.

Re: State of the Brontos
Made Admin the default group for Admins. Not sure if that helps or not. It does give you a rank though!
