Re: Avatars
I wanted to change my avatar to this, but every time I try the board gives me some BS about the URL not being valid and/or not being able to determine the dimensions of it:
and yet there it sits.
???
and yet there it sits.
???
Re: Avatars
Yeah, uh, I actually tried to change my av recently and got the same "cannot determine dimensions" error that prevented me.
Re: Avatars
I thought you had to manually enter in the dimensions of the image in order to get it to work.
Re: Avatars
Hm... haven't had any time to look into this but I got some tonight.
I checked the avatar settings in the Admin panel and everything looks fine.
I googled Geo's problem but all topics either have zero replies or are some nightmare of garbosponses like this.
I'll keep looking.

Okay... one thing that maybe might be factor, though in what way I'm not sure yet: Is this an avatar you linked from your pyoko webspace? If so, can you try putting it on imgur or something and linking from there, and seeing if it goes through?
Then we'll know it's an issue with how the boards see the URL, and not the image itself.
Re: Avatars
Yeah, I always do mine from imgur.
For the record, I've scaled it down to something absurd, like 100x100, and it still won't accept it.

Re: Avatars
I checked with geo's image and another random image that I hosted at imgur along with the defaults. I used multiple generic pixel sizes as well as the actual dimensions of both. Every time I got invalid url.

Uh, can anyone change their avatars? At all?

Re: Avatars
What does the "Gravatar" option in avatar settings refer to?

Nope, I'm stuck with Servbots lunch rushing Misato drinking Shinji drinking Brent's old avatar looking at a magazine of Friday's old avatar. I couldn't switch back to the old Lunch Rush; despite being the exact same size as this one it gave me an invalid size error.
Re: Avatars
fucker CITY
Okay I'll investigate this more. Might require a phpBB upgrade or something.
Also: Can someone post the exact text of the error message?

Re: Avatars
The URL you specified is invalid.
That was for a .gif and .png hosted at pyoko, tumblr and imgur.

Gravatar is a website/service thing that allows you to upload an avatar(s) to one central website thing and then add sites where you want to use that avatar to some kinda list and then Gravatar handles everything without the need for linking or uploading anything. Also you can change your avatar in one centralized location and all your avatars everywhere reflect it, etc.
I tried using the Gravatar option with my old Gravatar account and it seems to work. Though you have to put up with the annoying policy that Gravatar demands all avatars be perfect squares.
Update: Also I've been experimenting around with it a bit in the background (changes take a while to propagate) and it seems like animated gifs on gravatar don't work at all ;_;.
Re: Avatars
Alright, I narrowed down what it might be, and Lady put in a ticket to the webhost to change the value we need. I'll let all y'all know if it worked.
In the meantime, gravatars work apparently, but they don't animate because I'm sure all those extra bits must've cost them a D I M E.

Re: Avatars
BAM it works now. That solution worked.
Not sure what changed to break it in the first place, but we basically just needed to change a "url_fopen" value to "on" rather than "off."
Alright, gonna tag everyone that wanted to change their avatars recently to let em know:
