Avatars
Re: Avatars
<3 Elvira. MST3K before there was such a thing.
Placeholder for something witty that doesn't make me sound like an asshole
Re: Avatars
I learned that yesterday was her last live performance, too.

65,000,000 years before... well, whatever the event that indicated the turn from BC to AD, and the burgeoning human race has yet to master the wheel or basic agriculture, but have already invented hair conditioner and the blow-out.

Re: Avatars
I had thought my avatar was an intentional dig at Jotaro since it's from another 80s manga, but timelines put the chapter I took that from releasing years before even Phantom Blood, and from a series (Be Bop High School) that was popular enough to have 4 live-action movie adaptations well before Jotaro existed.
Since this was after bancho had stopped being taken seriously in Japanese schools, but before the 'bancho manga' boom, I'm willing to half-assedly assume and declare this was the joke design that everyone else copied for the idea of a stereotypical delinquent.

Re: Avatars
I just realized that your avatar also teaches something else - that the Japanese term for 'Bell-bottoms' or 'Flares' is 'Bugles'.
Re: Avatars
In French, we call them "elephant legs". :D

Re: Avatars
Is that the same in France as it is in Quebec? The differences between the two are often amusing (e.g. it's 'Fin-de-semaine' in Quebec, but 'le week-end' in France).
Re: Avatars
Yup, it's "pantalon patte d'éléphant" on either side of the Atlantic. I had to look it up though, I was halfway convinced it'd be "pantalons bell-bottoms". Parisians sure do love their English.

Re: Avatars
Okay, I like my new avatar too much to change, but if this goes unused none of us are friends anymore.

*ker-CHACK*
Not as great as before, but I think it's funny, I felt like a change, and that kerbal's been in the centrifuge for a long time.

Okay, I give up, I know I should be able to place TA's avatar and I just can't. Someone Shinra related from an obscure FF7 spin off? Help.
Re: Avatars
It's Palmer of Shinra from FF7 -- the guy you basically terrorize with a biplane. Not sure if it's a real game or a mock-up, since I don't recognize that sprite art from any of the mobile FF games I've seen offhand.
Re: Avatars
Ahhh, it's Palmer from Final Fantasy Record Keeper on mobile! Thank you Niku, that was destroying my mind :D
