CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)
Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)
yeah you know, i don't think most of these are super duper funny or anything but i don't think most out-of-context chat dump quotes are regardless of whether or not I know who's in them. if mongrel's somewhere that they say something he finds pretty fucking funny or even just mildly amusing, there's no reason for him to not post it. joke about how it never stops him in any other context.
Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)
Just checked fossil record, you were right about thread name.
That said, I feel like my original point still stands, which is that most of the amusment value from a chat dump is derived from knowing the people involved, knowing the associated in-jokes, etc.

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)
Well, arguably I should have just posted.
Which I don't think you need to know anyone to get.
<Ashenai> Growing up, I played Nintendo games with my neighbor, a little Polish girl.
<Ashenai> She would pray to Jesus to help us every time we got stuck on a level.
<Ashenai> When we were trying to get through TMNT, I think we may have technically qualified as a monastery.
Which I don't think you need to know anyone to get.
Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)
Okay, I should just stop now because my intention wasn't just to take a gigantic shit all over you, and I apologize for that.

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)
Oh well, I don't think anyone would argue that I post a lot of unnecessary drivel.

<greeper> i tend to only see movies when the theater is close to empty because i hate humanity
<greeper> i watched revenge of the sith in a semi-full theater and some shithead brought their kids who whacked the noise-making lightsaber against the seat in front of them all movie and i barely made it out of there without a murder conviction
<KingRamz> You had irritating children playing with lightsabers in the theater with you and you didn't kill them?
<KingRamz> I mean the movie even shows you what you're supposed to do in that situation

“My first memory of Wolverine was from a friend’s house at a Webelos meeting where I came across a comic that dealt with his escape from Weapon X and I specifically remember a four-panel sequence where it was him in his weird helmet SNIKTing up that bald scientist, with the last panel being a silhouette of Baldy’s head impaled on his claws Injury-To-The-Eye-Motif-style, which I think is why my mom only let me read Tintin comics. As a result, I have never slashed apart unethical Canadian scientists with my deadly claws, although I still have a bad habit of writing articles for Belgian newspapers that are filled with jovial racist caricatures.”

When clowns first attacked these shores nobody took it seriously. "It's just one boat, how many could there be?" they said.

I feel like there's some terrible novel in there about how the aryan race people actually won out and their ultimate punishment for crimes at the elite level is chemically changing a person's eyes, hair, and finally skin color.

[18:31] <kashan> So in TNG when they wanted to do a strange alien baby plot line it involved one of the female characters getting impregnated. In DS9 they just had Quark accidently buy a baby.
[18:32] <kashan> I feel like this is somehow indicative of the themes of the two shows.
