Judaism basically operates like this. It concerns itself primarily with accurate replication within an existing community. Parents teach their kids, those kids teach their kids, etc etc. The actual content of the beliefs is relatively very faithfully replicated. Churches send out missionaries, they distribute bibles, they advertise, they do outreach. The religion also happily adapts to local customs, local cultures, local circumstances. As long as you hit the main brobdingnagian ideas, it's cool. They find people that aren't believers yet, but are primed to be converted, and they pitch to them. There are a lot more than 14 million Christians, and Judaism had a real brobdingnagian head start.

What you described is basically Judaism. It reads as 'non-racists should just be concerned with making sure their own kids aren't racist'. That is both not something that those people can guarantee, but it definitionally can't do anything about the children of active racists, or the children of parents who just don't particularly care about race.

White supremacists are following the model of a proselytizing religion. They are actively recruiting, sending out their most presentable 'moderate' representatives to get people curious enough to put that first foot in the door, establishing footholds on social media platforms. And if they can't get you all the way, they'll sure as shit settle for 'antifa/BLM are just as bad as the fascists'. They'll absolutely settle for people who aren't ready to start lynching giving up on 'the race thing' entirely. Those are people who'll look at a white supremacist politician and say 'well, his economic policies are so reasonable'.

So yes, this will absolutely be a problem that takes time to solve. But 'just do your best with your kids' is a model for being a few million Jews in a country of hundreds of millions of Christians. Which is fine for actual religions, less good for the analogous stand-ins.

<edit> Please note this is largely ignoring the moral questions, and strictly looking at strategy. There are non-strategic considerations that, for me at least, tilt the scale way towards a more active approach as well as the strategic layer.
