Animotion and Car Tunes
Animotion and Car Tunes
We don't seem to have a thread for discussion animated media in general, so here.

New cartoon short from Jesse Moynihan, indie comic writer (Forming) and one of the writers/storyboarders for Adventure time
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Donald Glover to play Miles Morales, a character inspired by Donald Glover.
It's (presumably) parallel-universe team-up stuff and not a permanent leading-man gig, but still, good start.

Love that. I hope it spins off into a thing. I really need to use this free Marvel Unlimited subscription, which I ignored and has now become a paid Marvel Unlimited subscription, to read up on Ultimate Spidey
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
I was always disappointed that USM:TAS starred Peter and not Miles.
Of course, given when it debuted, it certainly started production before Miles was created. But still, I wish the timing had worked out.

Have I mentioned how fucking excited I am about this?
Tartakovsky is the GUY, man. I saw Hotel Transylvania, and I am absolutely confident that he's the guy who can bring Fleischer-style elasticity to CG.
Olive is the highlight here. GREAT physicality.

GET HYPE, YA SWABS.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Aw, I was coming here to post that. I wonder who they'll get to voice Popeye...
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
I'd like a real voice actor to get the role, but there's bound to be studio pressure to go with a name. Robin Williams would have been a great choice; whatever the problems with the live-action movie, casting wasn't one of them. But thinking of Robin Williams makes me sad.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Billy West would probably be pretty keen. I think he was in a straight to video Popeye release at some point? One way or another, I heard an interview with him on Talking Toons at one point where he talked about workshopping and developing the Popeye voice and it was kind of great. He studied some type of throat singer who was managing to hit two ranges simultaneously and he realized that's basically how Popeye's voice works. Then again I think he also said it's hellish enough to do that he might want to pass.

Just so long as whoever they get can also do the mumbling.
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
So it turns out you can get the entirety of Earthworm Jim: TAS for $11 on Amazon (affiliate link).
I wrote my first blog post in eleven months on the subject. It is short and sweet.

Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
So remember how 20 years ago they put Jay Sherman in an episode of The Simpsons and Matt Groening was so incensed that he had his name removed from the credits and bitched to the press about it?
Yeah, his name was totally in the credits of tonight's episode of Family Guy.

Uh, no, I don't actually remember that. What the hell does Groening have against the Sherman character?
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
I actually really liked that episode because it showed you can be an unconventionally attractive person with weird interests (fat bald man who sings food jingles) like Homer and Jay are but if you treat people well, you can be happy and people will like you. Or you can be like Homer and... yeah.

And be married for ten years with three kids of your own?
Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
I seem to remember them having Rodney Dangerfield on the show later that season and nobody raising a fuss about it.
I loved both episodes as a kid.

Re: Animotion and Car Tunes
Rodney Dangerfield wasn't a character from a Fox animated sitcom.
