Brontokon '14

Postby IGNORE ME » Sun Feb 02, 2014 4:19 pm

People are still talking about, like, physically interacting with each other* and it sounds like the two major preferences as far as when goes boils down to:

  • Over a three day weekend.
  • In early summer.

So: Memorial Day Brontokon '14. Let's see if this can happen.

Post here if you think you could make it, or if you'll be in a certain place at that time and would like a bunch of socially inept people to try and congregate around you at that time. For my part, you're all welcome to try and cram into my Japanese mansion (read: 640 sqft condominium).

* It only sounds dirty when I say it.

This would be the time to post the Brontomap again, wouldn't it?

For my part, we've already committed to being in the vicinity of Detroit from May 18th to May 26th, so a Great Lakes regional get-together might be possible at that time.

Same weekend as wife's birthday, so...not impossible but I'm guessing probably not.

Memorial Day 2014 sounds good to me. Is this is SoCal?

Weeeeell.

It seems like people are going to be scattered/have other plans around that time. Shouldn't be too surprising, three-day weekends are three-day weekends after all.

We can all try our best to catch people hanging out at the tail end of Gen Con/what-have-you or find a time and a place where people will happen to be in a congregatable area. I know Joxam, Mali and Friday all have longer-term travel plans around the early summertime.

(Or we can try to do something on President's Day! Go reserve your tickets!)

FWIW my company's going to force me to take at least two days vacation between now and the end of May, but that could go toward anything.

With all the PAXes and Christmas I've got about three days of vacation left. I'm still for Memorial Day, but if literally no one else is going to show up then I guess I can take some extra vacation.

We probably wont be able to do much of anything. Grandma has been sick for a while and she's like 92 and we're basically sitting on all of our extra cash waiting for her to check out because that's going to be a week long trip to Texas we can't avoid. (I'm the sole beneficiary and executor of her estate so it would be decidedly rude as fuck not to turn up when she finally does pass)

I'd like to see some of you guys, but honestly, unless it's within a two-day drive, meaning the north-east or northern midwest, I probably wouldn't be able to make it.

I'm interested in this.

Feels like it's been 10 years since that big southern California one.

hey let's talk about this again, I'm down with Memorial Day but I'm also pretty flexible.

Only thing I have planned is like a little roadtrip on the 6th and that weekend but that's not set in stone either, hanging out with you guys would be great

Any ideas better than making some kind of availability and/or interest polls?

Also, does our board support non-anonymous polling? That'd assist in coordination.

4th of July is an option this year, if you want to watch fireworks with a bunch of nerds instead of your family.

I visited Lady and Kishi for the 4th for the past couple years, so I guess that's a foregone conclusion either way.

The July 4th option seemed to be a bit more popular in the chatroom. Who else would like to party with other Brontoids under the dazzling cover of deadly airborne explosives?
