DEAR MONGREL
Re: DEAR MONGREL
How can you even tell? The picture gets cut off right before it shows that mongrel posts too much.
Re: DEAR MONGREL
TEMP FIXED
When we shut down the old forums I briefly considered imprisoning Mongrel within them in such a manner as The Phantom Zone, but like, you could only post : lol : emotes, no text.
So people would stop by and there'd be a new thread called : lol : : lol : : lol : : lol : and you'd click it and there would just be this wall of : lol : emotes in the shape of the word H E L P

Re: DEAR MONGREL
The problem isn't that I post too much. The problem is that you guys don't post enough.
STEP IT UP.
STEP IT UP.
Re: DEAR MONGREL
No mongrel you have a problem we're here to help.
Re: DEAR MONGREL
There's no reason you can't both be right.
Re: DEAR MONGREL
except for the fact that smiler is never here to help

Re: DEAR MONGREL
Mongrel, you have 300 more posts than the second-most-prolific poster, which is me, and my post count is only a smidge above 300 myself. I artificially inflate my post count by doing LPs, what's your excuse?
Re: DEAR MONGREL
Work is boring. I'd post more often if I didn't have to use my cellphone to post at work.

Mongrel is also almost to the point where he has more posts than the both of us.
Re: DEAR MONGREL
To be fair: for a while Mongrel was showing off his insane miniatures paintings.

I am still doing those! In fact I've painted quite a few, but the basing isn't finished, so I haven't taken nice photos.

Re: DEAR MONGREL
I'm pretty sure that if Mongrel was killed by a heart attack the boards would cease to exist except for the occasional Classic post asking where everyone went.
Anyway there are actually two kinds of posters: active and reactive
active posters make topics and start conversations. (Mongrel, Thad, R^2 with his LPs, me with my wolfgames/polls, Kazz back when he used to be active, Arc before Sarah Palin devoured his soul) They also do plenty of reactive posts, of course.
reactive posters wouldn't ever really post if the active posters didn't post anything to post about. (everyone else)
So, yes. Mongrel is actually a pillar supporting this community. I'm not saying the boards would ACTUALLY collapse if he died, but I think they'd get about 20% less posts per day (half of those being Mongrel's own posts)
tl;dr: a healthy community needs a large selection of active posters to exist, and by our very nature most of us here tend to be reactive, so in reality it is actually true that only a few people are keeping these boards going and Mongrel is one of them
praise be the Mongrel
just like how "7 degrees of separation" only works because it turns out that there are people called "facilitators" who know a fuckload of people for whatever reason
Mongrel and Thad are the primary facilitators of this board. I'd hazard that between the two of them, almost 50% of posts exist
I would venture that if both of them died tomorrow these boards would probably actually die because the posts would slow to the degree that we'd just stop checking here
again, except Classic
"where'd everyone go? emoticon, emoticon, emoticon."

*Mongrel opens the door of the brontohouse which happens to be indoors, missing one of its four walls, its roof, and has a large number of people seated in front of the missing wall*
"Dammit Friday, what did I do now?"

I don't know what I've done in recent history to earn your ire or disdain, but please recognize that my posts have evolved in their content.
Now I don't use emoticons.
... Mostly because I'm too lazy to <img> the old emoticons without the old scripts.

Re: DEAR MONGREL
BTW Friday, I suppose bad jokes don't really make it clear, but for whatever it's worth I appreciate that. Thanks.
This forum is a pretty cozy and reasonable oasis, so I'd hate to see it trail off to nothing. Places like this are pretty damned rare on these old webternets. I also think Brent and Kabbage deserve full credit for keeping us up and running technically.

Yeah I'm not actually ired or disdained at you. I haven't actually been ired at anyone in like... uh. I think the last person I actually was mad at was Guild. And then I learned to (desperately) love even him, so. I'm just poking fun at you, Classic, much the same way my avatar is poking fun at Mongrel. It's something I do to my friends.
Not that you guys are my friends. Baka~

Oh, sure. Almost all the admins, previous and present (and especially Brent) deserve a lot of credit for putting in the time/effort.
EDIT: wait, I remembered someone I was mad at. It's Frocto for losing the fucking first run through of ek3 I will never forgive that

I haven't done shit in like a year and now I feel self conscious about it.
