Welcome to phpBB3
This is an example post in your phpBB3 installation. Everything seems to be working. You may delete this post if you like and continue to set up your board. During the installation process your first category and your first forum are assigned an appropriate set of permissions for the predefined usergroups administrators, bots, global moderators, guests, registered users and registered COPPA users. If you also choose to delete your first category and your first forum, do not forget to assign permissions for all these usergroups for all new categories and forums you create. It is recommended to rename your first category and your first forum and copy permissions from these while creating new categories and forums. Have fun!

Re: Welcome to phpBB3
It may be expedient to customize the registration page manually (not by use of a plugin) to require would-be users to fill in a text box with an obliquely-hinted-at key phrase, to keep out the spambots.
Edit: I know a guy who has done this on phpbb3 before, and can find him and make him divulge his secrets.

...but is it art?

Re: Welcome to phpBB3
So, would anyone else prefer that avatars remain on the left?
It's nice to just sort of mentally note who's talking before reading a post, rather than looking for the identity of the speaker after the fact.
I mean, if I'm alone on that, I'll shut up. But it would be nice.

I like avatars on the left too. On the right is just...wrong.
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
We'll be switching that with the theme apparently.
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
So in my board settings, there's a "Friends and Foes" tab, but I can only add friends!

You have to switch between the subtabs to get to the Foes screen.

We just got here! How can you already be angry at someone?!
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
It turns out Mongrel forgot who everyone was when he lost his 5 million posts.
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
I've always been against putting people on ignore on IRC, so I don't really like that we have that feature on the boards now.

Re: Welcome to phpBB3
I personally despise the idea of ever using that but I think we should let people have the option and see how it turns out. Maaaaaybe it'll be stupid, and maaaaaybe limiting people's exposure to each other is just the ticket we need.
I'm mostly just leery about specifically removing features that people can use. We can probably open up some of the denied permissions in the current ACL, even.

Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Just wanted to take a minute to say thanks to the new admin team. You guys are doing a great job. I've been doing that shit for about the last decade and didn't even realize how much I could use a break; it's nice going back to being just a guy and seeing that I'm not actually needed.
And speaking of not being needed: man, we haven't even had any drama or trolling on the politics board. GJ, guys. I dunno if this is just the honeymoon period or if we've started growing up or what.

Re: Welcome to phpBB3
The cynic in me wants to say it's because we've successfully cut our posting rate down enough to not be able to generate any sort of meaningful drama.
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
That could still mean we're growing up.
Shit, Monday is my first wedding anniversary. How crazy is that?
Time to try some freezer cake, bitches.

Maybe you are.

Shit I don't want to grow up. I like being able to barely fit in cars.
