the FOR MAN EDGE POWERSMELL FIRM-GRIP MANDOM FOR MEN ONLY branding phenomenon is a marketing gimmick targeted entirely at the ~30 second exchange between customer and cashier so that the customer doesn't have to spend that half-minute in a cold sweat thinking "oh god this guy is going to see I bought chapstick, what if he thinks I want to suck his dick???? but I definitely don't! No! NOOOO"

I heard that if you make eyes with a dude at a counter who thinks you're gay the queer gets fucking locked in as tight as dudemusk corralled into your pitbarn by the new tactical-grip ColtCock Waterboard-Action Soap-Your-Ground Kevlar Wash by Axe Blackwater

Pretty fucked up

Tom Tomorrow's running a Kickstarter for a two-volume hardcover Complete This Modern World set.

He's raised $54K of his $87K goal on day one, so it looks like he'll probably make it.

The main reward levels are $30 for a PDF or $70 for the dead-tree edition. Which seems a little steep, but then again I've pledged $20 for 32-page Ditko comics that weigh substantially less than 15 pounds.

Red Ash has a playable mockup now; I haven't checked it out yet.

5 days to go and it doesn't look like they'll meet the target, but a last-minute push like this could get them there.

So according to the bottom of an article Parish just published on USGamer, Comcept has just announced that Fuze has greenlit Red Ash for development, so it's going to happen even though the Kickstarter sure looks like it's going to fail.

I did end up poking around the proof-of-concept hallway for a minute; here's what I wrote in the comments on the article:

I couldn't get it to work quite right with my DualShock 4; the X-axes worked fine but the Y-axes were not mapped properly. (L1 seemed to move the camera up...)

Still, I couldn't help but hear the shop theme in my head. Glad to hear that the game is happening -- though I guess I'll be spending that $25 pledge later rather than sooner.

Cool-looking pixel twin-sticker shooter.

Don't know if it'll make it or not, but I'm a big sucker for art deco and twin-sticks.

That does look pretty rad!

The Art of Tower 57 is inspired by 2 main sources

1) The books of Jules Verne and Ayn Rand.

At first I was all Image, but I suppose Bioshock did the same, so, alright sure.

I thought Red Ash the game was now assured of outside funding regardless?

It is.

And the anime had a goal of $150,000 compared to the game's goal of $800,000.

It's not really a mystery what happened here. The anime had a low goal and passed it; the game had a high goal and didn't. Pledges toward the game were still about triple what they were to the anime.

And it's a twin-stick shooter. Who cares about the story? If it looks and plays cool I'm okay with it. And it looks really cool!

...it also looks like it's not going to pass its goal anyway.

Except it did! 2.7k Euros over the goal and 44 hours to go. Man I was due for some good news, I'll take whatever I can get.

I think I'll throw ten bucks into the pot, just to keep track of it. Looks fun.
