Just going to go ahead and start a thread now, since the new series is only a few weeks away.

Samurai Back

Postby Friday » Fri Apr 07, 2017 12:52 am

It's pretty good.

beyond OH MY GOD BLOOD? the storytelling is a lot darker (and continuous, so far at least, from episode to episode) and the theme is despair and the futility of Jack's quest.

anyway, it's darker in a good way that explores Jack's own mental state, not just in a NOW THERE'S MORE VIOLENCE AND BLOOD. (though there is.)

if you enjoyed the original show, you'll probably enjoy this.

It's fine, we can just have two threads that nobody talks in.

The two are now one.

I've had time enough to see the first episode and I'm really into the Get 'Em School For Jolly Jack Slayers plotline.

For the record, new Aku is really good. He's not Mako, but nobody is except Mako.

According to a quick google search, since February when it was announced that Samurai Jack was returning.

Also seriously this forum is full of people who love The Venture Bros, can any of us really pull the "how long have you been waiting for this' card?

I hope they stop with just protégé and not possible love interest which would reduce Ashi to a prize.

Quite a shock to see Old Man Scotsman appear in the episode and then be vaporized. Not sure how I feel about him being a Force Celtic Magic Ghost. In the one hand, this is a cartoon with lots of lighthearted moments. On the other, it's trying to establish a more "mature" theme. I feel like Ghost Scotsman feels like they want to have their cake and eat it too, and I don't know if that's going to work for me.

Speaking of cake, the Scotsman's Daughter(s) are quite the slice.

I thoroughly enjoyed nostalgia ep and Ashi's brief buttcrack. Especially happy to see the archers again, as it's one of my favorite eps.
