These rat suit designs.

Some actually have dangling pairs of rat nuts, some are Giger-esque roach/rat hybrid meat mechs, some just have rat anii where his pickle dick should be.

I think books are going to be written about just how good this show is at communicating complex plots through minimal cues by using shorthand references to familiar tropes. Pickle Rick and The Ricklantis Mixup are the best examples and, not coincidentally, the best episodes of the season to date.

The ABCs of Beth, on the other hand... isn't. I mean if it was *trying* to defuse its shock value by making the A-plot super-compressed and everyone be super-detached about it, good job.

Which probably is why Rick likes having Morty around, as he's the only character that is not either too cynical nor too stupid to have some sense of awe and terror for things that deserve it.

But the episode has four lines about how painful it is to be smart so I'm sure the 4chan crowd will love it.

Yeah, ABCs of Beth was pretty meh. The background plot was okay, but nothing about the central idea made sense. So far we've seen much more of Rick in Summer than Beth, and the ending was telegraphed like a WoW instance boss.

I liked it, but you make a good point that "Beth grew up to be just like Rick" is kind of out of left field and not really supported by the series to date. (I mean, she did shoot Mr. Poopybutthole, but she thought he was an alien parasite.) She's clearly got her own set of issues, but ABCs of Beth gave her an entirely different set of issues than the ones we've seen before.

Rick vs President Keith David was a lot of fun.

And... pretty much nothing else. Again, it's really hard to grasp why Beth does things aside from the fact she needs to for the plot to keep going.

I guess that now that R&M has shown what it's really capable of, an episode that's a mere extremely well coreographed battle feels like there's something missing?

It's Steven Universe Bloat. They can't all be emotional ringers, you need a little bit of fluff.

I don't think anybody would have batted an eye if it hadn't been the finale. As a finale, it violates expectations by being a total anticlimax. Last season's finale pretty thoroughly blew everything up; this season's finale -- despite the Evil Morty buildup earlier in the season -- was just a straightforward, standalone episode that flipped a reset button at the end.

To the point that there's actually a fan theory now that it was a fakeout and there's a secret real finale coming at Christmas (based on the "maybe next time you see me, I'll look like Santa Claus" line or whatever it was). I could see that happening. But I could also see this being it, the anticlimax being the joke in and of itself, no topper necessary.

The greatest comment I've heard is one that simply described the substance as "Memesauce".

It's a meme, in liquid physical form.

Hi!

A (semi) decent writer here, letting you know how to write your show not like a fucking hack retard dipshit bad very bad fuckbrain:

1. do not overuse the serious/cool shit

2. do not overuse the serious/cool shit

3. do not overuse the serious/cool shit

4. use the serious/cool shit very very sparingly

5. no, more sparingly than that

6. remember Voyager? how everyone says they overused the Borg? they actually didn't! They were only featured in maybe like 12 Voyager episodes, but that was "too much" because see 4 and 5

7. you don't care! you want more Borg/Evil Morty because that's when shit gets serious! this is because you are a fan

7a. fans are the opposite of good idea. they will, consistently, sincerely tell you that your show would be better if Goku showed up and Evil Morty/The Borg fought him

8. always do the exact opposite of whatever any fan says (see 7a)

9. remember The Star Wars prequels? how everyone says they overused Lightsabers, even giving them to fucking kids? well yeah they actually did overuse lightsabers

10. this list is not meant for anyone here on the boards i'm just ranting about how fucking retarded fans are
