State of the Brontos
Re: State of the Brontos
hm, there was a new one today but it looked like someone just deleted it altogether.

I deleted all the spam from today because it was specifically porn and I didn't want to go too far down the NSFW hole.
Re: State of the Brontos
On a related note, none of the captchas and 3D text whatsits worked a lick - spambots "awaiting approval" filled up to like 200 before I set it back to a new text answer. I then purged every bot awaiting approval.
We're still getting a few in, but the numbers have dropped off a lot.
Never seen a bot flood this aggressive.

Yeah it's weird. I was just thinking of suggesting you simply change it to a different context-based question.

Re: State of the Brontos
Hey, sorry if this isn't the right topic, but do we have a Discord server at all? and can I get a invite link if we do?
Re: State of the Brontos
maou is suggesting that we route all traffic through https, and I think I found a place to do so, but I wanted to check whether anyone had any reasons against it.
It wouldn't automatically affect anyone who's being hosted on here, so if you want HTTPS to be permanently on for your websites, let me know.
Also, we might should also change some phpbb settings maybe so everything isn't just linking to the http site all the time?
[edit- I just found the place in the phpbb settings, so it shouldn't require any changes on the server side, but if you want your own sites to be https all the time, let me know]

If we have something other than the IRC channel (irc.esper.net, #finalfight), then I'm not aware of it.

Re: State of the Brontos
The period for comment on disabling the non-HTTPS access will be open until 4/25, at which point I'm just gonna do it
Re: State of the Brontos
Sounds good to me. Can't think of a reason not to.
Re: State of the Brontos
I assume there's something more involved than just putting https at the front of the URL, to access? Because that don't work.
Re: State of the Brontos
Yeah, the current Bronto HTTPS stopped working as of last night. Used to work fine.
Re: State of the Brontos
Let's Encrypt tried to renew the certificate last night, and I guess something went awry. Seems to be back in action, but it makes me leery of turning off http access...

"brontoforum.us uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is only valid for the following names: mail.brontoforum.us, cpanel.brontoforum.us, webdisk.brontoforum.us, webmail.brontoforum.us "

I'm getting this too. Workaround: Go to the forums at https://mail.brontoforum.us/ and it still works to get to the forums.
Re: State of the Brontos
I don't know why, but the server keeps wanting to generate a new ssl certificate every day the last 3 days. between this and we're moving this weekend, switchover to https forever is on hold
(these guys ^ checked on it as soon as I woke up this morning and they still beat me to it)

Re: State of the Brontos
I keep getting security certificate warnings.
Re: State of the Brontos
This doesn't matter even slightly, but I'd love to know what all is causing it: When I view my profile, the tiny avatar in the navigation bar vibrates slightly every time the bronto rawwrs. It stops happening until reload if the mouse touches any part of the menu. Just me?
