It is true that I'd eat human before elephant, though.

Oh my god why did no one ever tell me about Filipino sausages. Holy shit.
Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth
Because the only time I ate Filipino food it was greasy and bland?

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth
If it's was bland, it wasn't decent Filipino. If you mean the little spot over on Pape, that place may be run by Filipinos, but the food is trash by any standard.
Greasy, well yeah. They go in for deep-frying everything even more than the Scots do.

Given it's the only thing I don't recognise, I assume the coconut vinegar is the key sausage ingredient here?

Yeah, that's part of it. It's a good balance between the ingredients too.

It's the end of strawberry season in Michigan, I'm going to try making pavlova for a tea party this Sunday!

With every passing season my curry game grows stronger.

Dear wife just found out the dammsugare marzipan treats from Ikea have palm oil in them, which I guess means we're not going to be buying those anymore.* I guess that also means I'm going to have to learn to make them myself. Which means I'll have to find someplace that sells punsch.
*palm oil itself is fine, but I guess the cultivation practices are terrible, namely slash-and-burn in some of the last orangutan habitats left on Earth. And it's hard to avoid the stuff; I guess one of palm oil's best qualities is how it stays semisolid at room temperature, it's in damn near everything.

Slash-and-burn in some of the last _______ habitats left on Earth. You can fill in the blank with a whole damn lot of endangered and just-about-endangered species.
And yes, palm oil is one of the few saturated fats that come from a plant, so it's solid at room temp. You can put it into things that are going to sit on a shelf for a month so they're still soft and pliable and don't taste as stale as they actually are.

Educational and relevant.

"Boudin SF: Try our chicken pesto on our new rawhide bun!" I dunno, maybe I just got a bad loaf or something. Lexi's seemed nice enough, if too sweet-- fig jam and brie with apples and butternut squash soup. And since it's on the way home from work, maybe I'll bring home one of those little critter loaves for kiddo.
Also, it's been a while since I had Vietnamese coffee, like with the condensed milk. "Alright, I'll have a little. *sip* Holy crap, I've got Tron lines all of a sudden!"

Fig jam and brie with apples is one of those things that is significantly greater than a sum of its parts. I don't even like fig jam or brie on their own, but together... :o~
Found out this week that there's a Guatemalan bakery in the next town over. I have nostalgia for pan dulche, dad used to take me to a Mexican grocery in Flint that sold it. I don't want to drive into Detroit for Mexicantown bakeries, so I'm hoping this one scratches the itch. I might get some for breakfast this weekend.

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth
I need some starter advice from people living west of the Atlantic. As the only pasty white brit in my circle to willingly eat Mexican foods and Sriracha, I have apparently been typecast. I recently received a vast selection of sauces with words like "Muertos" and "Insanity" in their names. Ratings range from 100k to several million. What sort of things can I cook with these that won't have me immediately trying to breathe through my gills? Any go-to recipe books?

Hopefully NSW will be flying in to save the day with science here, but for a simple chart of my personal experience:
0 - 100,000: Spices that you can use in food that wont even be spicy.
100k - 300k: Makes Spicy food.
300k - ~1M: Makes Spicy - HOT food that is still, like, food.
1M+: These are jokes that exist as a test of manliness and not meant to be used in real food.
