I dunno, but I'm seeing people GETTING MAD HYPED when this really remains an unknown.

I mean, Valve spent a decade promising everyone that they really really were going to make HL3.

Also, Bethesda stated during this press conference that TES6 will only be in for serious work (or any work? they just said "coming after") after the release of their next game, Starfield, which an entirely new franchise they're starting up.

I'm weirdly more hyped about Blades than about any new PC/Console TES. "Elder Scrolls, but it has an actual combat system and you can get away with playing it in very short bursts" appeals to me, at least until I consider how it's probably going to be monetized.

Having never spent a huge amount of time trying to mod these games into a completed state probably makes a huge difference though.

Yeah, most of the fun with Skyrim is modding it into whatever the fuck game you want it to be.

(unsurprisingly, for many players that "game" is porn)

I maintain that there is a market for good porn games

Or rather good games with porn in them instead of weird porn games that also randomly have some good gameplay elements and a metric fuckton of bad porn games

(the market is me)

The problem with porn in games is that you're always going to limit your market with that so if you do it you either need to be committed to it or else be ready to not make not as much of a return on your investment.

Sexy Beach Premium Resort is there if you want to take a bus to the wrong place, run out of money, fall off a cliff and take falling damage, and then get beat up by dolphin men.

You have no idea what a warm feeling it gave me to see that after all these years, TF2 is still the top game.

EDIT: looool Euro Truck Simulator 2, omg.

So Fantasy Flight Games thinks they've figured out the latest Magic-Killer CCG. Some flavour shitpile named KeyForge. But flavour really isn't the issue.

"It's only going to be sold as preconstructed decks!"

Okay?

"You only play precon versus precon."

Well this seems fine, but not very CCG-ish"

"Every precon is a randomized assortment from the overall card pool!"

Uh... okay, so this is a CCG after all, only with bigger packs?

"Nope! Every precon will have a unique back so you can only ever play with whatever deck you opened!!!"

I'm... not sure I can imagine a worse model for a CCG. This sounds fucking terrible.

"If a deck wins too often in an Organized Play framework, there are processes in place to handicap and eventually retire that deck. For more information on this, keep watching our Organized Play articles and announcements!"

Jesus Christ, I give up, I'm not sure how this could be worse. "Keep buying decks until you get one which isn't shit and/or is broken! But don't play it too often or we'll ban it!" It's like they took everything that's bad about a CCG and threw out everything that's good.

Dear God tell me he's not involved in this?

Though it's not like he hasn't designed any clunkers I suppose... :/

If you're interested, SaltyBet just added 800+ new characters, 60+ stages, bunch of music, and it's a huge clusterfuck running nonstop while all of these new characters are ranked.

Well this has my attention:

Fell Seal: Arbiter's Mark

It's $20 in Early Access, and available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. I'll probably give Early Access a miss and wait for the full release -- hell, I never did get around to finishing Ogre Battle, I should really get on that -- but Fell Seal looks very, very promising. There are a lot of turn-based strategy games and tactical RPGs, but as much as I enjoy the XCOMs and the Fire Emblems and so forth, I've really been jonesing for something in the TO/FFT mold for years, and this is a pretty overt homage to FFT.

Course, the proof is in the play. This game looks good, but it's all about the systems. It sure looks like the devs put a lot of care into the presentation (er, those portraits notwithstanding), so I'm optimistic that the core gameplay has that same attention to detail. We'll see. The release is set for some time in 2019.

Also, there's Tanglewood:

Not only does it have Mac and Linux versions, it's got a goddamn Genesis version. It comes with a ROM you can play in an emulator or on an Everdrive.

Moonlighter looks interesting. The hook -- you crawl dungeons but also own a store -- sounds like Torneko's chapter of Dragon Quest 4, but the gameplay looks more like Zelda/Binding of Isaac.

It's really not that great.

If you want an Adventure Game Store Simulator go for Recettear. If you want a dungeon crawler, well... choose?

Moonlighter is cute, but the store is an aferthought. Of the relatively small number of items you can sell, they all have a "perfect price" and once you find it I don't think you're even allowed to change it. The adventure game would be a big step up over Recettear's if there was any threat. You can go in and get killed out of the dungeon an unlimited number of times a day and can go the entire game without ever selling anything and be fine.

Wait a minute, this all sound familiar to me...
