It's actually going to warm up overnight here. Right now the day high is -10 with 40mph gusts.

It sucks.

Its warming up to a balmy 22 degrees tomorrow but that's because the dew point is rising and its going to snow six to nine inches.

Michigan has also dropped into mild negative degrees F, though tomorrow's supposed to be 40 and raining. I don't know if this will get rid of the snow or just form a sheet of ice.

Tangentially, I think it's time I broke down and bought a manufactured winter coat, something rated to at least -15F. I love the wool long coat I made but even with two sweaters beneath it's not warm enough for anything under +15 degrees. When it's really cold I need to just give in and wear a sleeping bag over my head.

Reports were saying we'd get up to a foot of snow overnight and there's maybe a couple inches outside

Like usual

Ever since the response to the pre-Thanksgiving storm in NY this year was lackluster enough to get the guy in charge of that fired, every potential snowfall has been heralded as an apocalyptic event. And I don't think snow has even stuck since.

Not even. Walking to the rail station was more pleasant today than it has been with the leftovers from our last snow.

It's bad enough that nobody else wants to drive, though, the train in was nuts-to-butts.

This morning was the craziest freezing rain I've ever been out in. I stepped out my front door, thought "oh, it's icy." Stepped carefully down onto the sidewalk, and slid 10 feet. I took another step, and slid 10 or so more feet downhill. Stepped out into the street, slid another 10 feet. I eventually made it to the bus stop by walking through the 6" deep snow on the curb instead of touching pavement, but the bus never came. After waiting an hour I split a Lyft with a neighbor.
My bf just texted me that he's watching a car slide down our street, wheels not spinning.

Seattle is on its third snowstorm in a week and we're due for another one on Monday.

The streets outside my apartment are covered in ice sheets over an inch thick. This is the fate of anything that isn't a major trafficway, and those are covered in slush. By the way, did I mention we have hills? We have a lot of them.

I have no idea what I'm going to do about work next week.

At least there's more snow coming down now, so the ice sheets will temporarily be covered by a higher-traction layer of compressed snow.

My workplace already sent out a closure alert for tomorrow, and technically I don't have to go in, but realistically some people still need to keep an eye on things and that includes me.

At least you're not at your old job. You'd be flying in or out by now.

The storm that hit Seattle on Friday is supposed to be dumping freezing rain/snow/sleet/something frozen and nasty on NYC on Tuesday, so I'm probably going to end up working from home to avoid the FUBAR commute.

Yeah, we're supposed to get freezing rain, snow, and "wintry mix" all week too in Michigan. I'm not technically allowed to work from home but my boss said maybe I could anyway next time there's terrible weather, so I should work on sorting that out tonight.

High of 74 today. I think my neck got sunburned.

It's supposed to get up to 84 by Wednesday, and then drop back down to the 60s by next weekend. The weather's really been all over the place here this winter.

Thad, you live in Arizona. I don't think you can legally call it "winter".
