Kimarhi was the guy you used until you got Auron.

It's gonna be mash attack, spam dodgerolls, use your big penis move when the meter is fully turgid. It's fine, it's not complicated, but it works.

Right, I got that, but there's plenty of room for variation even assuming that framework. How much variation will there be in how quickly the meter fills? Once it fills, will I pretty much just select the top option, or will there be a good reason to switch up commands? Does MP automatically recharge? Are summons still a menu option, or are they activated some other way like in Crisis Core and FF15? How often will I switch characters? Can I adjust settings so I spend more time in menu-based combat and less in real-time combat, and, if so, is it a baffling half-assed mess like FF15's Wait Mode?

We already know this one is "as often as they can release DLC".

I don't know what's going on exactly with the cross server stuff I heard is either going to or was at some point introduced, but I was thinking about coming back again and never had a guild or much outside of quest and queue hoping. If anyone has an open group, I'm not planning on ever pushing new content hard, but am up for weekend dungeon runs or whatever this game has to offer outside of just leveling new classes, or I guess just my main classes still.

My most main is on Goblin and a 50 Warrior / Monk / Ninja.

You should join the Talking Time server on Sargatanas.

blurgh, FFXIV still has some archaic BS with clusters and shards. Sargatanas is overpop and another cluster so I can't even cross-sever dungeon unless I jump to a low-pop over there. And then still couldn't actually join the FC.

Yeah, Aether is character creation locked at the moment, and Sargatanas just got designated as congested yesterday, so we can't get anyone else in.

Lots of new stuff, some old stuff (and oh dear God, the beginnings of the answer to "what are they going to do about Don Corneo?" -- say, whose voice is that?), and I'm starting to come around on the full-orchestra treatment for the boss theme.

I look forward to Tifa saying "...or I'll rip 'em off" out loud.

There's a $50 day-one DLC that adds a list of poses and common names Tifa and AERIS will use during those lines.

you guys probably think I'm joking around with these no sale posts but Kingdom Hearts 3 did not have Sephiroth in it and I did not buy it

also the game sucks and is a godawful hot mess with absolutely insanely bad dialog writing and characters but that's of lesser importance

I understand and respect standing on the principle of refusing to buy a mainstream game if it does not pander to you specifically.

I have long had the policy that I will personally boycott Kingdom Hearts until they include Air Bud as a playable character. I am now extending that policy to the Final Fantasy series.

...aren't the sailor outfits after Midgar?

I mean, I know they're moving some of the post-Midgar stuff up, like summons. But the sailor suits kinda feel like one of those things that can't be moved up.

Have they already announced that it's going to be FFVII in Midgar and FFVII-2 and -3 outside or something?

They've confirmed that the game is episodic. I don't know if they've outright confirmed that the first game will just be Midgar, but that's at least what everyone's assuming; it's the most obvious place to end an act, and we've only seen Midgar in the preview material so far.

part 3: no "intense background with Barret and Dyne and then Dyne kills himself and then you immediately race chocobos through a hallucinatory madness-scape", no sale, no "turks have the day off in Wutai", no sale

part 4: no slap fight with Tifa and Scarlett, no sale

part 5: no "Cloud mumbles something about Xenogears while in a coma state", no sale

Speaking of, I wonder if they're going to address how off-balance the "great enemy" Wutai appears in-game.

I mean, I guess the implication is that after the war Shinra just reduced their kingdom/lands to a fucking tiny little tourist trap town but it's still pretty unbelievable that a corporate giant with a fucking massive army would seriously be in a protracted conflict with a few Ninjas.

I mean, you can argue that the Ninjas were all high level as fuck or whatever, but it's not like Shinra didn't have their Soldier First Class.
