Hot game deals
Re: Hot game deals
Humble's got a Capcom sale on. Looks like a lot of games that go on sale pretty regularly.

Assassin's Creed Unity is free to claim through Uplay (PC only) for the next week. As a French company, Ubisoft feels its their responsibility to make the Notre Dame fire the second most terrible thing to happen to your week.
Re: Hot game deals
Fell Seal is out today and 15% off.
It's good! Buy it if "shameless FFT homage" sounds like a something you'd dig.

There's a Humble sale on, and they're giving away Guacamelee for free. It's great; get it if you haven't already. (Runs well on low-end hardware, too.)

Re: Hot game deals
There's a GoG Sale on again with some good deals. This includes a free walk'n'click called Obduction.
Re: Hot game deals
Sigil (John Romero's new "episode 5" for the original Doom) is out and the base WAD is free. 6.66 euro for the version with a Buckethead soundtrack (in-game only, not MP3 files).
I'm seeing that it requires a full version of the original Doom or Ultimate Doom (you can play the WAD in the engine of your choice, but it requires the base WADs). Doom goes on sale pretty frequently but I'm surprised to see it's not part of the current GOG sale. Still, $5 at full price on Steam and $6 at full price on GOG ain't gonna break the bank.

Re: Hot game deals
Didn't we used to have a surplus game key giveaway thread? I can't seem to find it, but thjat's probably just me being a dumb.
Anyway, does anyone want a copy of Paratopic? My brother's got a key he can give me though neither of us are big horror game fans. That said, it looks sort of interesting in a Twin Peaks sort of way and has good reviews, but I'd rather just pass it along to someone who genuinely wants it.
Oh, and here's a DRM-free key for Pool Panic.

It's a secret to everybody.
Re: Hot game deals
Various E3 deals on at various places. Just got Tetris Effect for $20 from Best Buy.
Re: Hot game deals
Humble Nintendo sale. Mostly Switch; some 3DS. Is there anybody who's got a 3DS who hasn't played Link Between Worlds? If so, it's $15.

EPIC store has gone from monthly to weekly free games starting today with Enter The Gungeon.
Re: Hot game deals
I'm kinda liking how the low-grade r/gaming hate undercurrent is pressuring Epic to give me all this random free crap.

Re: Hot game deals
I'd assumed they were being looked after from the infinite Fortnite money pool, has anyone spoken out about the developer experience of this event?

I haven't heard about the game giveaways, but Epic Store exclusivity money was enough that Phoenix Point stated that 100% of their backers could get refunds and they'd still be in the black - so that's approximately $2 million for exclusivity.

Re: Hot game deals
Notably, none of the free giveaways have been exclusives. In fact I've already owned them all on Steam.
I can't even find anything that talks in hard numbers about the deals, but I figure the best case scenario is that everyone says they volunteered and weren't in any way pressured to do the give-aways. I would be amazed to hear if there was any compensation for the licenses.

Flash sale in the PlayStation store. And PS Plus is $36 for a year subscription at something called MassGenie.
Re: Hot game deals
Fanatical has a bundle going with the D&D Infinity Engine games' Enhanced Editions. You can get one of them for $5, or 3 of them for $10.
I've already got the original versions but have never played them as I could never quite get GemRB to work.
I figure I should probably try and see if I can get Lutris to run the versions I've got with GemRB. And if they still don't work, well, what the hell, might as well get the bundle. I'm thinking Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment for sure, but not sure whether I should go BG2 or Icewind Dale for the third game.

Re: Hot game deals
Oh, that's a great deal. Thanks!
BG2 is the obvious choice, here. The story holds up, and IWD is basically a (very good!) pure combat game that lives or dies by how much you like Infinity Engine combat - which of course you can't know if you haven't played them before.
I'm kinda feeling the idea of playing NWN again. :/

Re: Hot game deals
Skipping base and doing the two expansions isn't a bad option by any means.
