Over $30,000 worth of action figures and DVD sets seized in Alberta bust

CALGARY – Optimus Prime would be proud of the effort Medicine Hat police put into arresting this Decepticon.

That's nothing. He actually said this too:
It’s kind of ironic I would get canned on Remembrance Day. With all those guys dying, I guess I died too with them.

(and yes, he really did go on Tucker Carlson - that's not a photoshop. I just had to check, because it was too perfect)

Toronto preparing to retire the electro-mechanical rail control system which has guided train traffic in the city for nearly a century

The article states that, were it not for a lack of expansion capability, there's no reason the system couldn't have kept on working for another hundred years.

I think this may be one of those rare cases where you can genuinely say that they don't make 'em like they used to.

Oh and also this gem hit the news (near Ottawa):

I don't know if its the same up there as it is here but that's not the worst indicator in the world. Down here Hockey can be prohibitively expensive for most people lower middle class or lower.

Oh yeah, that's absolutely true here too.

That doesn't make her weaselling not-hilarious though. I mean, did she or the PM or any other member of this government not anticipate the question of "So, uh, what do you actually do" about a job which is essentially a placebo.

I'm not sure if Robyn Urback was meant to be the Globe's replacement for that horrid old hack Maggie Wente (Wente was given the boot back in June, and good riddance), but either way, Urback is fucking killing it lately.

So, his unbroken chain of incredibly poor judgment continued... until it broke.

I think with any other leader Tory leader they'd have just hushed it up, but so many of them want him gone that he wasn't going to get the least bit of slack.

I mean, it's not like I'm sad to see him go. Hardcore social conservative + Career Empty-Suit politician is the last idiot anyone needs in charge of anything.

For the non-Canadians:

Reconciliation with indigenous peoples has been a major theme of our politics (and has widespread public support, amazingly enough!) over the last half-decade. For a very positive example, the premier of Nova Scotia recently told a corporation to fuck right off, even though it means the loss of hundreds of jobs in an already-poor province, because they simply refused to stop dumping toxic waste next to a nearby first nation. It's going to cost a lot, and make a lot of people angry, but it's the right thing to do.

But, y'know... fuckin' cops:

What's weird is I totally didn't see that alert ANYWHERE until several hours later when it was in the news as a mistake.

LOL working as intended?

I think most of us know that that pipeline is the one sop to Alberta that's going to get pushed through come hell or high water so the Feds (be they Conservatives OR Liberal) can say they did *something* for the Land of Jason Kenney, but Jesus, they sure aren't sparing the horses.

There's apparently a local network tracking cop movements. I hope that a lot of cop cars out there find themselves mysteriously up in flames.

You know, when Justin Trudeau was first elected, I figured he'd be a dick, but it would have taken a lot of effort to convince me he was going to be worse than his dad.

well
