Can you imagine being that firefighter getting the call from your captain saying "This building has excessive, heavy smoke! Find the source of the smoke!"

and then you open the door and find Snoop Lion

They were polite enough to say all the smoke was from "an unknown source".

If you're staying on top of the D-O-Double-G's names, he's Snoopzilla now.

Well if the comments section of their news website is any indication of the racism at UCLA....

Whoever wrote that article better never get an actual journalism job, because ugh.

Margaret Thatcher day, anyone?

Oh, FYI, the Brits don't have a Churchill Day. Priorities!

In fairness I think people should be just as pissed if someone tried to implement a Churchill Day. He may have won a war but that fucker was a sexist asshole. Of course shit like that never stops us from having holidays for people, but then isn't that one of the reason most of you monarch countries turn up your noses?

Er, no. Pretty sure Churchill is pretty damned beloved in Blighty (second or third most favourite Prime Minister according to a big poll done in the UK in the early 2000's). I'm a pretty big fan of the guy myself.

But yeah, I'm sure there are people who would screech about his sexism, or his support for EVIL BRITISH IMPERIALISM, etc. But even if you consider those things, it's still amazingly hard to stack that up against Margaret Thatcher and have her somehow come out as more beloved.

I can't weigh in, I'm an American and we have e.g. Columbus Day.

The funny story about Columbus Day is that that was driven by the Knights of Columbus.

Just FYI that 'should' up there in my previous post should be 'would'. I was implying that I thought people would be just as much on their high horse about pretty much any politician, not necessarily saying I agreed. Don't get me wrong, I don't think Churchill did nearly as much terrible shit as Thatcher. Although, I probably do think that a lot of politicians are, for lack of a better term, (perhaps a little pun intended) white-washed in the eyes of history. I mean a lot of them did great things don't get me wrong, but they all had glaring huge, terrible problems.

Well, yeah, you'd be pretty damn hard-pressed to find a leader who's done no wrong and even our "greatest" leaders can be torn down without too much effort.

The problem (and this is only a general statement and not directed at you) is that tearing them all down leaves us with no heroes at all and an impossible standard for anyone to live up to.

I can only hope this does still turn out to be a hoax in the end.

"You can talk trash, you can talk disgusting things, but if you're not soliciting someone to meet you or engage in an act, then it's protected by the First Amendment," said Shaw.

I'm sure the guy who went to jail for six months for talking about eating children's hearts on League of Legends would have liked to hear that.
