Is anyone well positioned to pool our resources and get a portable AC unit into the mail?

I'm now looking at getting help making one o' these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxSLbpAwibg

Also FYI I did get more sleep last night. Still wakeful, but a normal amount given the heat.

I've been laying a new kitchen floor at midnight because the trailer park manager just updated us from "the caravan owner's coming to visit on August 8th so have it looking nice" to "actually she'll be here tomorrow". This is the same manager that continues to assure us the heaters cost 'nothing' to run after using them in the first few weeks pushed our electricity from 30 quid per month to 260. Still trying to recover from that one.

I believe some kind of constructive eviction attempt is on the cards.

Anyway, booyah to that. Hope she really told them horror stories about the water damage.

That is a nice looking floor, and I don't care about floors.

I'd put my feet all over that floor.

That might be a step too far.

Not a shit day for me, personally, but dang.

In the space of a day my brother was rammed on the highway by some road rager who figured he'd force his way in (basically sideswiped his passenger side, totally fucking it up), and then had a pup be stillborn (they were watching my brother-in-law's dog along with their own and she had a pup who was too big to make it), and then my stupid mom had the temerity to tell him it was bad karma because both her and my brother's wife recently reached the "you're not allowed here, I hate you" stage of traditional mother-in-law development and she let anger get the better of even her already-questionable limits.

Like, fuck's sakes guys, cut it out.

My cousin died today.
Cousin J. The third death in that wing of the family in five years. She went into the hospital at the start of the covid pandemic because she had a seizure and they found an "uncountable number of tumors" all over her body. She passed away today, having collapsed again and her body just shutting down.

The surviving cousin blasted himself off his ass with alcohol and apparently ranted about how he missed me and the times we hung out as kids, so

I'm having a day.

Sorry, Lyrai.

I've missed you here and hoped you were doing okay, or as okay as anybody is right now. Sorry to hear about what you're going through and I hope it gets better.

I saw this earlier, I didn't reply because I couldn't find appropriate words to convey my condolences.
But probably anything is better than nothing.
I'm sorry, Lyrai.

Same. I was on last night and all I could think was damn, what do you say to that?

It's not much, but I'm sorry for all this shit you and your family have had to go through Lyrai. I hope things get a least a little better.

I never thought online condolences could make a difference until I was a recipient of them, so I'll pipe in and say I feel for your loss.

Trying to look on the bright side of things and I am less angry about survivalist hippies drilling me on first aid and bushcraft and shit and then abandoning me in the woods with a knife or whatever. I mean every childhood is normal and some of that has turned out to be super useful. Especially this week.

But the more I think about it the more I realize that holy shit my dad was a fucking psycho.

Psycho parents seem to be the universal acid test. All the best people I know escaped at least one of 'em, all the worst stayed too long and grew into bonsai humans.
