Re: Final fucking fantasy 22 3/4

This is the only place in my life I feel safe pointing out that Nibelheim being the total boonies is canon, per Zack and Cloud's introductory conversation outside Modeoheim in Crisis Core.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

I tried reading white fragility and I am now interested in hearing the experiences of others who grew up in hardline Catholic communities because it was actually triggering and not in the way the author intended

Re: Disasters, natural or otherwise

I usually see it as "late-stage capitalism" which I always thought was a comparison with "late-stage cancer" -- not wishful thinking that capitalism is about to die, but realistic thinking that we are all about to die from unchecked capitalism. I dunno, I think if you accept Mon...

Re: Final fucking fantasy 22 3/4

Cloud triple strike is the best bread and butter atb spender. focused thrust is your stagger builder. don't neglect punisher mode (Cloud's Triangle); guarding during it will automatically counterattack / parry. cloud is also a very good choice for dodging, counter attacking, parrying, etc materia. ...

I'm now far enough to have spent some time with Aerith and I pretty much adore how she immediately reads him as a more self-serious but dramatically less competent version of Zack and so can't help but find him ridiculous

Re: Final fucking fantasy 22 3/4

I like that the characters finally have some room to breathe. I like that, given the range of options they had in fully-characterizing Cloud, they decided against just making him an asshole like Squall. I like that Tifa treats Cloud like a charity case, but not in a way the audience would understand...

That said, I'd be happy to see her stay in the Senate *or* become VP. Personally I think her particular combination of expertise, intellect, work ethic, and complete lack of anything remotely resembling real political acumen makes her a perfect candidate for the Supreme Court but I know she has les...

Re: Election 2020 - Here we go again

I'm skeptical that he could push youth turnout as high as Obama did in 2008. Sanders's politics are more exciting than Obama's, but Sanders as a candidate is not as exciting as Obama. You might be right, but I still think going after the youth vote is better than going after the moderate vote. You ...

The only thing that would trigger genuine despair in me is if the coronavirus response doesn't impact Trump's approval rating.

Not a fan of the guy but it must be said Buttigieg would be a great VP pick for either Bloomberg or Biden. He's young and perfectly-tailored to go against Pence in a VP debate, which never have any real substance - the candidates aren't running for positions of any consequence, after all - and end u...

Re: The Winter Up There Must Give People Brain Freeze

Alcoholism has had a severe and longstanding impact on the survival and integrity of Indigenous peoples, especially in North America: 1. Once upon a time, a raging alcoholic (good ol' John A) set into motion the residential school system, forcing three generations of children from Indigenous towns ...
