Re: Computer help requests

Well, there's an unexpected consequence of sunsetting Adobe Flash: all my favorite screensavers are broken now. I guess add "install flash windows 10" to the ever-growing to-do list.

Re: Oh shit, what are we gonna do now?

Probably not quite the right thread, but has anyone else been wondering what Trump is up to now? Considering every social media platform has banned him, his phone is effectively a brick. So is he just watching TV and lawyering up for impeachm- Oh crap, I forgot I heard he's hiring Orly Taitz as an a...

Man, it's a bummer to hear Lancer isn't as great as I hoped. Maybe it's just one of those things I have more fun thinking about than actually doing. "Dude, could we do something like the MGS2 Harrier fight? Or a multi-crew giant robot like that Meiji mech from Robot Carnival? Or a hundred other...

While we're at it: never forget what they did to Adrian Schoolcraft. For those who don't know, he was an NYPD officer, and a good one. He actually enjoyed walking his beats and gave a damn about the communities he patrolled. At some point, he started making secret audio recordings of his daily busin...

Has anyone taken a look at Lancer? I'm finally getting around to reading the rulebook. I've only gotten through the ground/pilot rules and it sounds rather streamlined and narrative compared to D&D.

Re: CHAT DUMP (and Quotes)

I heard a story on This American Life once about life in Iraq during the war and US occupation. At one point, they touched on a shopkeeper who was an honest-to-goodness snake oil salesman. I guess it's good for conditioning your hair or something.

Re: Impeachment

I would hope that impeaching him now would set an example for any future American despots. Because if a mob storms Congress at Trump's direction and the people who work there don't do anything about it, then impeachment is just filler for textbooks.

Unless I'm misinterpreting those pictures, that looks like a pretty cozy setup.

Re: Things That Go in Your Mouth

Alexis has discovered mushroom logs, as in wood logs used purposefully to grow mushrooms for food. They seem pretty cool and I'd get one just to get one, but the problem is we don't really know enough about mushrooms to have a preference. So if anyone has a preference, I'm all ears. Shiitake seems t...

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams

I'm not sure I've ever felt blissfully happy in a dream before. Some tall, square pillar topped with a garden about the size of my back yard. and angular Grassy patches broken up with angular streams of glittering water, deep enough to swim in. It was weird that Adora was fishing there for some reas...

...where have I seen that OH! Gordon Klingenschmitt! Former Navy chaplain nicknamed "Dr Chaps" who served quite briefly as a Colorado representative.

I knew I saw that face before. And speaking of which, his more recent pictures do look like french cuisine gone wrong.

I always wondered about that playing World of Warcraft with all the gray trash items. Moldy leather, cracked fangs, broken swords, cloudy murloc eyeballs, what have you... what even compels your character to loot that stuff? On top of that, why would any vendor even want to buy that?

I still need to look in earnest, but there's no harm in asking among friends: Does anyone happen to know a source for scans of "Need A House? Call Ms. Mouse!" ? We're thinking about Christmas gifts, and for my brother-in-law's family we're thinking of that book. The problem is it's been ou...

Can anyone point me towards anything to help download all of a Twitter account's media? An artist I follow is closing up shop and I'd rather not have to tumble through all their posts.

While we're at it, does anyone know any good toy drives? Some troubles with gift donations at my son's school has me thinking I should try and do some more to help. - Toys for Tots is the first that comes to mind, but I haven't looked into it yet. The connection to the military also makes me skin cr...

Re: Election 2020 - Here we go again

Fuck, Bush seems honorable in comparison. I'm awfully scatterbrained these days, but I think I remember him emphasizing we were at war with terrorists, not Islam itself. And we make fun of how he could barely talk, but at least he didn't sound like an obviously fraudulent used car salesman. And whil...

Re: "Coronavirus" is the category, dangit. (COVID-19 thread)

I heard that The Washington Post said that 3,054 people died of COVID today in the US, topping the 2001 World Trade Center death toll by 77.

We did it, America! I knew we could do the worst thing possible if we just worked hard enough!
