Basically. Plus owning Russia doesn't actually get China much of anything they don't already get (i.e. cheap natural resources), since they've been revealed as a complete disaster case.

Probably minor, but another country coming off Russian gas is always a good thing.

Incidentally, apparently the reason gas prices are down is that Russia has been secretly selling more oil to China etc. than they've let on, which is causing a global supply glut.
