Re: The Star Trek Thread

Re: 3x08 "The Sanctuary" Strange episode. I liked a bunch of individual parts, so overall vaguely positive. The whole fight scene with Dettmer was pretty cool, just purely from a visual perspective. I didn't really grasp what they were doing at most parts of that fight, so it was mostly ju...

Re: The Star Trek Thread

Yeah, the "stuck in a tube" story was pretty terrible, but on the other hand it's the most we've seen of Tig Notaro all season, so I think I cut it some slack based on that. That's true, more Jett Reno is always a delight. She had my favorite line of the episode: Stamets: "Hugh, than...

Re: The Star Trek Thread

Thinking about that scene where Saru is trying to figure out the best way to bring the crew together, and the computer reveals itself to be a sentient autonomic AI with a fucked-up creepy voice. The AI makes some suggestions that he kindly follows to the letter, and later just bemusedly mentions the...

Re: The Star Trek Thread

Thad your taste in entertainment is, as ever, truly baffling. Oh was this about the Sandler reference? Nah it's just, I can't wrap my head around how you like some of these episodes: Ep 1: Good (thanks to Michael and Book) Ep 2: God-awful Ep 3: Great Ep 4: God-awful Ep 5: Pretty bad. Ep 6: Good-ish...

Re: The Star Trek Thread

Thad your taste in entertainment is, as ever, truly baffling. I'd say Picard making a whole season-long thing about the romulan sun exploding would point to them making the Abrams movies a clear part of canon. Now, I think that's a horrible idea, because the entire concept of the sun going supernova...

Re: The Star Trek Thread

I think they just assumed he died when a supernova went off right next to his ship. So far this season has been all over the map for me, in typical Discovery fashion. Every episode with Book has been great, particularly the 3rd ep (the one Faukes directed). Some REAL clunkers in here though. It just...

Re: The Star Trek Thread

Discovery is causing me massive psychic damage, four episodes in, in the only way Disco knows how: Episode 1 was great, episode 2 was unimaginably shitty, episode 3 was great, episode 4 was unimaginably shitty.

Re: Election 2020 - Here we go again

Rudy Giuliani had an extremely bizarre impromptu press meeting at, wait for it: 1325087011464749056 Current theory is that they book it at the four seasons hotel without checking with the hotel first, couldn't get it, and rather than correct themselves, just went with the Four Seasons Landscaping Co...

Re: In the Land of Wonderful Dreams

Had a weird dream where I got a new apartment with some friends in the city. We were on the 6th floor of a building, which was next to another big building that had 5 floors and some destroyed ruins of a sixth floor, directly connected to it. My brain definitely grabbed this Daniel Danger pic from m...

Re: Albert R Broccoli Presents Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in...

Die Another Day is insane but fun, one of the better ones in my opinion. The villain is good, the stunts are ridiculous, and the plot about the korean double-agent is just classic Bond camp.
